Tonneau cover and occasional gooseneck?

How watertight have you found your Truxedo Sentry CY to actually be? It’s between that and the Bakflip X4s for me as my Tremor is nearing the dealer now. Bakflip had their rebate plus another $50 off from Off-road Alliance.
My Centry CT does a good job keeping the vast majority of the water out. I have not done the weather strip mod though. Another plus’s in my opinion is the CT doesn’t require drain tubes to keep the bed dry.

Thanks for the info on the X4s. That’s probably where I’m strongly leaning toward buying. Nothing will be 100% watertight, but the idea of a cover is to cover stuff up and I’d prefer a cover that won’t allow it to become soaked. Much appreciated.

Had one of the first Bakflip revolvers was great until it started falling apart and I got zero support from Bakflip.

I’ve had 2 Retrax pro XR’s since and have been very happy and even had to use their customer service which fixed the issue quickly.

I’ll never buy another Bakflip.

Truxedo is another company I like, they warrantied a cover on a used truck I bought with no questions asked.

Pretty happy with my Retrax Pro with t slots. Have a goosebox and have no issues with rail clearance. One winter in Michigan and no issues with functionality due to ice or snow.

I have the bakflip mx4. It works fine with my gooseneck. I fold it to the next to last position just short of vertical against the back of the cab and secure it with the included click straps. No issues so far, and everything forward of the trailer ball stays covered.

I just put in a call to Diamondback about the gooseneck dilemma. Of course they wouldn't share timeframe but said they were working on a solution that would give full access to the middle of the bed!!

Just ordered the RetraxOne XR because it has the T-Slot to make it easier to find a bed rack. It should arrive in the next day or two.

That's awesome!

I have a bakflip and haul gooseneck for my tractor and side by side. I have had zero issues. no contact whatsoever. probably 5-6 inches of space. If there were any concerns there are extendable gooseneck balls that give you even more clearance

Retrax power pro mx all the way infinite adjustment

Any suggestions for a hard tonneau cover that you can get out of the way for the occasional gooseneck tow? I have the hard Leer trifold on my Tacoma and is...fine I guess. Seems to really show its age after a couple years and I can't confidently put anything on top.

I was crushing on the Diamondback HD for the Tremor but afraid it's going to be a mess to get off and on when I want to tow the gooseneck. If a little birdy told me that Diamondback were working on a trifold version, I'd be the first in line.

Opine...
I use the Retrax MX retractable on my Tremor. Easily opens to an adjustable level enough to use my Anderson 5th wheel hitch without issues. One caution, when installing the rails to the top of the truck bed, you add almost an inch of height that reduces your clearance between the king pin and the rail (found out the hard way when the king pin caught the edge of the tonneau rail). Otherwise great cover with adjustable locking features and can withstand weight on top of it, if needed.

Agreed. Seems to be a good product and checks a lot of boxes for folks, but I keep coming back to the X4s. Plus Retrax are pretty spendy.

I have the Truxedo Sentry CT and have not noticed any water in the bed other than the first 2 inches at the tailgate and we've gone through several torrential downpours.

One thing to consider if looking to hookup 5th wheel or gooseneck is the effect on the camera. My buddy has a F-350 with the Bak Flip and he recommended not getting it because it obstructs his camera for hooking up his 5th wheel and gooseneck.

I agree that Truxedo really stands behind their products and warranty.

I had the TruXedo Lo Pro on my last 2 trucks. It has a lifetime warranty and when I bought the one for my Ram they inspected my then 9 year old cover and replaced it for free before I sold that truck. Can't beat that!

Check out the Renegade Bed Covers. A trifold version of the Diamondback. Can support 2,000 lbs. on it. I have the Diamondback and a buddy of mine has the Renegade as he pulls a 5th wheel.

I'm using the Bak Revolver X4s hard roll up. Nice clean look when rolled out. When I tow our fifth wheel it rolls up nice, the tie downs are adjustable and it doesn't obstruct my view out the back window.
I also have a Bak Revolver and love it. It give me a hard top and rolls up when hauling the 5th wheel. Rolled up also gives you plenty of room to look back with out it being in your way.

I even hauled a Yeti 250 cooler last fall with 3 Deer in it plus other gear cargo netted on top.
