Maybe someone can enlighten me. Here in CA almost all the diesel they sell is renewable diesel and bio diesel. Why the F is he price increasing at the same rate of Dino diesel right now? Is it the simple answer “because they can.”

I can understand prices going up with bio diesel because it is normally a blend like B-20. But with renewable diesel it’s my understanding that it has very little or no Dino petroleum in it. I may be incorrect on that but that’s how they market the renewable diesel around me.

Can anyone correct me if I am wrong? Or am I right and we are just getting screwed again????

It's literally because they can.

I was thinking about this exact thing the other day. I think they are banking on people not knowing the difference between renewable and non-renewable.

Remember, the population in CA gets their news from Tik Tok so it's not an informed electorate.

Yeah I agree on the voters. I wish there were an Iq test to take whe you register to vote..!!

The technical term is 'Capitalism.'
No. The term is government overreach and mismanagement.

In CA, renewable diesel is classified as regular diesel for taxation purposes.

Also, 80% of California's fuel (Gas and Diesel) is IMPORTED from Singapore and the Bahamas as the government of California has mandated a summer blend which can only be made in a few refineries globally.

Since 2 more have shut down operations in CA this month alone leaving, I think 5, costs are going to only go up.

So... @avocadofarmer please explain to me how it's capitalism if oil companies are leaving Ca forcing the state to import fuel from other countries causing priced to be sky high the classification of bio and renewable diesel to be regular diesel for nearly $2 per gallon in tax.

Your answer explains the reason for the high cost of diesel in the state, generally speaking. Capitalism is *still* the reason why the prices of biodiesel have followed the recent uptick in diesel prices.

No. Bio diesel and renewable diesel are taxed at the same rate as regular diesel. If they would be classified different, it would not be as high.

Also, bio diesel and renewable diesel are also imported from international sources hence the higher cost.

It's easy to though out the current buzzwords of the day and hope that wins a discussion but in this case, it's not capitalism, it's the Ca state government.

I figured NewScum and a few of his cronies have a hand in the import of fake diesel scheme and that’s why they are able to label renewable diesel and regular old #2 diesel.

I was filling up the other day at Costco and a guy gets out and is about to fill up and was cursing because it was labeled as renewable. He said he will never use that stuff in his truck. I asked him where he buys diesel in CA and he mentioned a going to Raleys and Safeway because it’s real Dino diesel. I told him I was 99.9% sure it’s renewable and they don’t have to label it any different then diesel #2. He told me I was full of shit. I don’t think he knew what CA was up to

I thought I smelled French Fries the other day after filling up with CA Diesel. I do think it has better lubricity than #2 though.

It still has to be made and transported (a long way) via machines that use real diesel.
