PPE transmission pan replacement (7.3 gasser)

***ULV fluid. I believe it is a full synthetic***

Honestly, I haven't researched the makeup of LV and ULV. Just read that ULV is much thinner. Common sense makes the assumption that passage tolerances are tighter and to your point; keeping the fluid clean is going to yield best long term results.

This whole transmission temperature thing has bothered me hugely but everyone on a couple forums basically said it is as Ford designed it and leave it alone. It is extremely difficult to buy into that. I know my truck shifts beautifully when it is 95* as well as 225*. Someday I intend to do whatever it takes to bring those temperatures closer to 180*F. Truck is still in warranty now. I hate seeing these tranny temps thinking the ATF is just getting fried.

Awesome finds!
I’ll never get why people are so hung up on the 10r fluid temps. 💁

Because extreme heat kills oils. Plain and simple. I have read all the stuff on several forums even to the point peeps imply i am an idiot for worrying about it. Eventually after warranty is up I will do something to make it run a little cooler. Just to moderate temps to more reasonable levels.

200- 220 is nothing for modern synthetic oils.
I’ll leave it at that. There are plenty of discussions about that, and the dangers of running it too cool on this forum.

I'm just going to drain and fill my fluid every 35-40k miles with a fresh 16+ qt of ULV. Especially now that I have that +5QT PPE Pan with a drain plug and the pneumatic transmission fluid fill pump! I'm not messing with it any further.
