LineX. Or ford factory spray in liner

I've had both, i liked the line-x better than the ford factory liner. But i also bought the truck last year when everything was messed up so one less thing i had to run out and do was the better decision. Also its hard to argue that its really worth the ~$150 more vs the factory liner to wait and do it yourself when the risk is that the next shop messes up your truck.

Been quite fond of Line X. Ordered my new truck with the Black Appearance Package, which includes the factory spray in liner. It seems fine in comparison to the Line X, but the attention to detail is lacking compared to my Line X dealer. I could see that maybe being installer specifiec though. My local Line X installer removed the box link brackets (like mentioned above), and I believe they also removed or taped off the bolts to mount the bed. They also didn't get overspray on the body of my new truck like Ford did. Knowing what I know now, if I had a choice, I'd probably go Line X, if you know your local installer is good. I'm sure not all of them are created equal. Wouldn't have mattered in my case though, I wanted the Black Appearance Package, and that's part of it.

My 2 cents is the factory Ford liner is good 2 go. I’ve drug some heavy metal pieces across it that tried to dig in but didn’t. I like it better than the Rhino liner I had on my f150. The only complaint I have is there was overspray on the truck cab and even up on the grille of the truck that I had to pick off.

Love my factory liner, never had the line x, what I like about the factory liner is that its rough enough to grip stuff but not rough enough to shred a suitcase but it’s plenty tough (wood with nails didn’t touch it).

I held off to get Line X. While trying to order an ARE Topper, I was talking to the shop which handles both. He has been out of Line X for some time. In the last week, he has received a new supply. Hopefully he will have product when my MY22 arrives. With that said, the ARE Camper Shells/Canopies are backlogged over 12 to 16 weeks. Being that I am optimistic & believe I will receive my truck prior to a scheduled trip the end of October, I placed an order for a Leer.

Factory because it comes with the black appearance package, so I had no choice. :ROFLMAO: Don't have the truck (22MY order) so can't comment on the quality.

Is the factory liner good quality and durable ? I have always had LineX in my trucks and they hold up well. I am rough on the bed of my truck.

Ford factory liner?
As far as I know Ford farms out the bed liners. We asked about it and Bowditch Ford sent us to a LineX shop that does all their liners.
We're VERY satisfied, super durable and looks great.

Same experience, LineX performed the extra details that make the job well done.

We've had much much better experiences with aftermarket bed liners (Line-X) vs the Ford factory sprayed liner. That being said, even Line-X Premium will fade after a year or two if always exposed to the sun. If it's under a bed cover they last much much longer.

I like my factory bed liner better than the aftermarket ones I have had in the past.

That's the only thing is Line-X places will probably have a lot more variance in them (personnel wise, geographically, training and experience, etc) than you'd see out of a Ford sprayed liner (by a robot). But I can say that Line-X is about double as thick as the Ford product, and they do say that it will last longer, which I agree with in my previous experiences.

Found this info on another forum…

Here is a video comparing removal of the Ford-supplied liner versus Line-X:

Note that the Ford-supplied liner peels off fairly effortlessly.

Here is a video showing how the Ford-supplied liner is applied:

The installer is GFX. Note that there is no preparation of the bed, whereas the LineX shop in the prior video did abrade the bed surface.

The comparisons are fairly circumstantial, and the most interesting thing here is just seeing how the Ford/GFX liner is applied. But it also goes to show that using an aftermarket liner by a shop that does their preparation might provide a far superior result to the Ford/GFX liner.

I have the factory and it is been good to me, However my buddy got a brand new F150 same time and he went to LineX and his is much nicer and they will give him a free touch up if he moves something and Fs it up.

Quick question: is it possible to have the included 'Tough Bed' factory spray liner on the Lariat deleted before the VIN is generated?

It was on my order confirmation as a NC (no charge item).

Probably won't do it, just curious. The factory adhesion looks good enough from that one video.

Assuming it's a separate item, should be possible before the VIN is generated based on what I've read elsewhere in the forum.

Your profile picture shows a black appearance package truck, though. In that case the liner comes with the black appearance package, so I don't think the liner could be removed without losing the package as a whole.

Yes, I left that detail out. Post was just meaning that trucks that have it included standard and was wondering if it could be deleted.

If there's 0 chance the factory liner will fail, I'll leave it as-is. I'm not throwing cinder blocks into the bed.
