IS IT ME OR IS MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL OFF.....NEED YOUR HELP TREMOR WORLD

UPDATE:
My Ford dealer just called me. They said the engineer said that common on most trucks and being off that much is acceptable. Well the dealer went ahead and adjusted it. They said it is better than it was when I drove in. I will up date again tomorrow after I pick it up.

That engineer's supervisor.

Wondering what they did to get it adjusted. Looking forward to hearing more. I think I might call my dealer about it as well. It's driving me nuts now.

I didn’t mean for everyone to check the diff’s. But I figured I couldn’t be the only one with this issue. Maybe if enough people complain they will do a better job on fit and finish.

Wish I wouldn’t have noticed this thread... mine is off 1/2” leaf springs from the frame. Very curious how they adjusted it...

UPDATE:

I just got my truck home from the dealer today. It looks better then it was. Doing a quick measurement and using a straight edge it’s still about 5/16” off. I can live with that. I’ll try and get a more accurate measurement this weekend. Looks to me like they straighten the blocks up. Everything looks plum. Before it didn’t. The dealer did show me 3 trucks that had the same issue as mine. So I guess it’s common. I’ll see what it looks like at the end of the month once the lift and 37” are on. Hope this helps.

Cool thanks. I think I'll have my dealer do the same when I get it serviced next month. It's driving me insane now. I can notice it in the blind sport mirrors and I'm losing my mind. Good thing is that the truck drives fine.

Do the blocks on your truck look crooked or not in line with the perches on the diff?

I haven't specifically looked at the blocks themselves. But the spring perches are definitely off. But since these are welded or at least pinned to the axle it's not likely that can be remedied

Well hopefully the can move it a lil. But on mine you can see the diff was moved some and the blocks and springs line up much better. It’s still off, but better then it was. Good luck brother.

After I got my wider wheels and tires it became obvious to me. About half an inch out on the passenger side

My raptor has the same exact issue

In my past post you can fellow my experience with this. This weekend I was able to do a more accurate measurement. My diff was out 5/8” to the passenger side. Now it’s 5/16” out. I can live with that. I sent an email to Ford corporate office. Basically we all pay a lot of money for these trucks and the quality control needs to be much better. The Ford engineer told me the diff being 5/8” or less is acceptable to Ford.

I didn't check mine yet, but I had a buddy following me the other day that said my truck looked like it was crabbing down the highway. He said because the front wheels stick out further but it also could be the rear axle is off center.

Which also begs the question- What is the purpose for the front wheels sticking out further than the rear? I know they didn't design it this way by accident, I'm just curious what purpose it serves? Could this be as simple as the rear wheels tracking on some undisturbed terrain for better traction?

It is probably not crab walking, the front axle definitely has a wider track that the rear. Also it is only the axle in a Tremor or single wheel F350 that does this. The standard axle in the F250 without the max tow, does not look this way(Not the same axle). I also would love to know the reason for this.

This is purely off the top of my head, but could it be that that Dana limited slip differential on the front would make the wider stance? I’m guessing it’s a different axle entirely as opposed to just swapping out the differential.

Good point, I guess it's possible. But the front axles all look the same to me, no matter what the model (Except dually) I wonder if it has to do with centering the wheel on the hub bearings for maximum load support, but who knows.

Hello All,

I was looking at my truck from behind today and I noticed on the driver side the rear tire looks like it in further then the passenger side. I am a general superintendent and build buildings for a living. So I have a pretty good eye and usually right when I see something not lining up. So I took my 6’ Stabila level and figured out center of the wheel wells. placed the level against the truck and the bubble was dead center. I also measured up The tire from the lip of the rim. I measured the passenger side first and I had a 1/2” from the tire to the levels edge. On the driver side I made the same measurements on the tire. I measured 1 1/2”. I looked at under the truck and nothing looks off. Any suggestions???
Im not going to look for trouble. My truck drives great and I am good with it.
