INSANE DIESEL BYPASS FILTER FAILED

I like the idea, if it's a million mile truck and you plan to keep it forever and want to go 15-20k miles on an OCI (baring you have the TBN to go that far) could be cool. But I follow Brutus from HighEndHaulz on IG that regularly gets serviced here in GA by Leadfoot Diesel and it's about to cross a million miles sometime by year end or early 2026. So I would only consider it on something you're really trying to squeeze long as longevity and OCI out of ... Now if you had a 6.0, you'd probably want it to keep the soot out of the oil and keep injectors happy. I got a friend that built his own and I don't think his oil ever turns black, always looks like honey/syrup.

OP, just for clarification, is that an actual Insane Diesel filter, or a filter from another company? I am assuming it is the one that came with the kit given your posted mileages. I ask though because the pictures on the ID website show a gold ring at the top of their Extreme 1 filter, but there is not one on yours. Of course our trucks take the Extreme 2 filters, but the photo on their website of that filter doesn't show a shot from the top so not sure if looks the same as the same as the Extreme 1. But if so, did it look like there were any possible issues with it when new?

Was that the top side of the filter, or the bottom side, or both? Have you looked inside the canister to see if there are any rough surfaces on the bottom or the underside of the lid that could have lead to this? I assume the lid was installed and seated fully, securing the filter in place?

Also, do you run any kind of additives that could have lead to this?

I ask because I was planing on ordering one of their kits for my truck once Black Friday came around. I haven't seen a lot of reviews on these filters, however, the ones I have seen have all been great. This is the first one I have seen like this.

Also, given that others used actual toilet paper rolls for this in the Frantz system, it makes me wonder if that shredding is truly even a concern. I have no idea, but I wonder if pieces of the TP shredded off like this in those systems too...?

And if I am looking at the schematic correctly, when looking at the oil flow, it doesn't look like these pieces can actually escape from the filter housing and make it's way into the rest of the oil system because the oil flows through the filter back into the system. Those pieces would be way too large to get through a 1 micron filter.

Thanks!

Their marketing team used the wrong “coarse”. 😂 I’ll be putting a Frantz filter on mine with the standard toilet paper style media and the synthetic does not provide any moisture removal.

Fantz looks cool, their 6.0L powerstroke install looks to be the easiest thing on the planet lol.

Yeah I had their universal kit on my 3.0 powerstroke in my F-150. I bought an adapter on Amazon and tapped into the oil pressure sensor near the oil filter and used their 6.7L powerstroke returning cap with the stick ring in it and it worked like a charm for 30k miles until I sold it to get the tremor. The filters are easy to change, one nut on the V band clamp and pull and swap. I mounted mine with the bell up so it would auto drain back overnight and I could just come out in the morning on a day off and swap the filter. Was a breeze.

The universal kit was $285 and now it’s not available because I believe they are rebranding it to a hotshots specific one that’s Black. Jamin Sweat had one on his YouTube for those of you who don’t follow Freedom Worx.

I actually called HotShots Secret and talked to them today about their kits. they are all out of stock because the are missing some parts and waiting for them to be made. They don’t have a timeline right now when they’ll be back in stock.
