I think my truck is trying to kill me.

About a month ago my truck starting having electrical issues. Mirrors extend over night, remote start not working and truck continues to run when the key is removed. Took it to the dealer and said I had moisture in the fuse box. 3 weeks later the dealership said it was repaired and picked it up Last week. (I have never opened my fuse box)

Yesterday, while I was making a left turn, the car in front of me was coming to a stop. When I tried to stop it did not “disengage“ it was if I still had my foot on the gas. I did not see what the rpm was at but it broke the rear tires loose. I quickly shut off the truck and put it in park. Started the truck back up and it had no lights and drove fine afterwards. Never experienced anything like this before.

Could the torque converter be bad?

Sounds like you still have water intrusion in fuse box - a very well known issue amongst all SD and FORD is doing very little about it.

While I haven't ran into the extents of your madness, I have experienced the typical telescoping mirrors, the odd rear window slid open and the notorious vehicle cameras not working but I do live in the desert so that has kept it to that.

The slighest of a truck wash can make it go haywire.

I also took mine to the dealership a few months ago. The service writer told me it was taken care of. I spoke the tech directly and it was a lie; the tech had flat out forgot about it while working on other listed items to address so nothing ever got done. How infuriating!

You can find other topics on this and what people have experienced and what has also caused this, not only being the fuse box.

Ha. This has happened to me. In fact, I caught it on my dash cam 3-4 times. Ford has basically said it doesn't exist. Do you want to know the worst part...in order to stop the engine acceleration you have to release the brake. It's the last thing you feel like doing when your engine is revving up while you're 6' behind the vehicle in front of you with the brake pedal pressed! You can't push hard enough. I bought a dashcam b/c of it. If I happen to hit something when it does this I want it to be recorded. I have 22,000 miles on my 2021 Tremor 6.7 and it's probably happened 6-7 times. I am almost used to it by now. I at least know how to handle it.

Is there something easy that can done to protect the fuse box?

I've been researching this myself especially after reading that water (or moisture) can come in through the a-pillar as well and affect some of the wiring in this area?

Plus the fact that FORD needs to run a list of protcols before they get in there to actually fix the problem. For me, that is downtime especially if this going to be a tackly by step issue.

I do not have 4-trips to the dealeship time knowing all well what the issue is and how to fix in one attempt.

Some kind of secondary cover with a drip edge, to break water tension (just like a house roof), may work. Cover that is essentially a 'cap' with extended side walls to extend down to the bottom plane of the box.

Which fuse box is exposed...engine bay or internal cabin/passanger side fuse box?

Possible alternative is to source a tupperware box just slightly larger then the fusebox to enclose it. Cut the container in half so it can be fitted around the fuse box and in the correct locations to allow the cabling to ingress/egress through this new exterior housing. Once in place silicone seal everthing that was cut and around the cabling

Following.....
This is my first SD i've never heard about this. Any thoughts on maybe putting a few SILICA DESICCANT packets?

There are a lot of brilliant folks on these forums.

I am curious to see all options or alternatives to remedy this issue; perhaps all better than FORD by the time they circle the solution.

I ran into this issue a couple of times. It’s hard to admit, but it was actually operator error, pressing on the gas pedal momentarily vs the brake pedal. Happens to quick to realize the mix up, then you left wondering WTF just happened! I’m sure you’ll come back and reassure me that that wasn’t the case at all, especially not after your truck has tried to kill you before.

And the others here have already attributed it to and shifted the discussion entirely toward the fuse box - IT pressed the gas pedal! Because you mentioned it in your first paragraph…

I have seen videos on YouTube about this issue before and numerous posts on other forums regarding water in the wiring harness connections, particularly on the rear surrounding the spare tire. The first thing I checked when taking delivery of my new '22 was lift the hood and check the fuse box cover. Sure enough, it had not been snapped down tight! I drove the truck home and dropped the spare tire and basically went through any wiring connector I could find under there front to back and applied dielectric grease to the pins. One day I will get around to pulling all the fuses on the underhood fuse panel as well as the interior panel and spraying them with Boeshield T-9. Its a great waterproofer for electrical contacts.

All you folks have to do is just to reach down and check if you fuse panel cover is properly seated in place. Because if it is, the water is not getting inside it. That's your best preventive measure.

If instead it wasn't closed properly from factory or some mechanic left it loose after a check, thats where most problems likely occur. It is in a bad spot where water coming down from windshield or if the hood is opened, can end up on top of the cover. BUT if that cover is properly closed, its not getting inside.
