How much can I tow?

Going from a 3” hitch to a 2.5”. I have a weigh safe hitch and looking to have my old one milled down to 2.5 “. I know it will reduce the towing capacity per their website. Just getting ideas or opinions on this before I do it. I don’t really want to spend $180 for a new drop bar. Thanks !

Sell your old one on marketplace or craigslist, buy yourself a new one. Don't over complicate things.

Really? Let teach guys the wrong way of doing things. I've seen alot of stupid things guys have done to their trucks on here. Some don't know better, some don't care. Which are you?

My apologies, I hastily skimmed over the word “milled” when first reading the post from the guy saying he was going down to 2.5" from 3". And thought we were having just another ordinary 2.5 vs 3.0 debate.

I don't support the custom milling of hitches.

The ‘peace of mind’ of buying the proper part from Weigh Safe is going to be worth way more than the meager savings of having the old one milled down
