Hitch confusion

Great question! I also was confused on this as well. I have the 250 6.7 and bought the B&W hitch as well. I pull a 3320BH Passport Touring that has a loaded weight of 7500 lbs max. Tongue weight is 750 lbs. It rides perfectly level. Check it out. Plus I’m at about half of the towing capacity.
Do you get any sway with your setup on windy days or when semi trucks pass you?

Also, have you weighed your trailer at the tongue?

I ask because my trailer has a max weight of 7000 lbs and my TW is right at 1000 lbs according to my Sherline scale. CAT scales show my loaded TT weight is closer to 6700 lbs and my combined TW is 1150, so your number seems very low.

I have not weighed the trailer at the tongue, I'm going off of the information provided by Keystone. Hitch weight dry is 690 lbs, so I just used a calculation if it were at its maximum load capacity which it's not. As for sway in windy conditions, there is some but it's not nearly as bad as it was when I had the WDH with anti sway pulling with my Suburban. Then again the truck has the built in anti sway which might help as well.

One more thing, I pass semis so that's not an issue.. lol

Yep, that is what I thought too, but my simple math calculation was way off. My dealer listed TW is 710 lbs, but in reality, it was 1000 lbs when loaded. I only checked because my WDH had 1000 lb spring bars and I was not able to get my front height back down to the unloaded height. I just bought 1500 lb spring bars because you are also supposed to take into account any weight in the bed behind the axle of the truck. In my case that is two e-bikes and my WDH hitch which added another 150 lbs total.

The sway is caused by the turbulence around the larger truck as you pass it or it passes you. With my undersized bars, I felt semi trucks pulling me into their lane a couple of times. I will try my larger spring bars the next time I take it out, so I hope it is solved.
