I can't seem to get a straight answer on this so I'm going to ask here.

BW Companion slider fifth wheel hitch 20K in my 250 Tremor. Do I configure for 1" forward of the axle or 3" forward of the axle?

Short bed so 1" would seem to make sense. But it's a slider so I'm not concerned about maneuvering.

3" would put more weight on the front axle which will make the truck drive better.

I don't have much real world experience with fifths so I'm reaching out. From an engineering/design perspective I think I'd prefer 3" forward but what say you?

1) Where does that 3" forward place the trailer in relation to the truck cab in hard turns (like 60* or better)?
2) Does the trailer clear the cab on turns on a steep incline/decline??

The trailer sits pretty far back on the hitch, meaning the pin is about 12" in front of the forward most part of the front cap. So far (in the 60 or so miles I've pulled it) I haven't had much in the way of close calls.

It's only a couple of bolts to reconfigure. I may just trial and error this and see which I prefer.
