Washing the truck today I noticed a disconnected wiring harness hanging down. Crawled underneath to investigate and find that it's a short harness that isn't connected on either end. It's just forward of the fuel tank and runs along the frame towards the rear on the drivers side. I looked all around and can't see anything it's supposed to connect to. Tags have a part number that didn't come up with anything on an Internet search. Anybody have a clue what this could be from?

I'm just guessing it's something Ford omitted either because your truck wasn't optioned with what belongs to that plug or they deleted the option (like 3rd brake light camera) due to short supply. Just spit balling

That was my thought (hope) as well. I'm gonna call the dealership tomorrow, I'm sure they'd be able to look up that part number on the tag.

Hmm. This is really weird. Truck has the 5th wheel prep, so wouldn't all of that be connected to either the bumper or the 5th wheel/gooseneck hookups in the bed?
I contacted the dealer, they are looking into it, so I should have some answers shortly.

Not necessarily, I had a brand new F-150 that didn't have the trailer brake control on the dash installed. Factory "forgot" to install it.

It is for the trailer camera and TPMS kit.

It's been my understanding that those numbers are not part numbers per se, but engineering numbers. They look very similar to part numbers but supposedly are not actual part numbers that you can look up a corresponding part for.
I learned this while trying to source replacement coil springs and using one of those tag numbers for a Lincoln LS a couple of years ago.
Not sure if a dealer can punch the numbers into their computer and translate it into a part number or not.

@Joeram44 How do you know?
I utilize the trailer camera and tpms plug on my 24 and did the same on my 23. On my 23 the plug was tucked away nice but on my 24 it was just hanging there.

Plug on the the left is the stock one and you will see the new one on the actual truck which takes the hanging plug.

Gotcha thanks for the info!

But, the OPs dangling plug isn't plugged in on either end. And it's way up in front of the gas tank (look at his last picture). Near the spare is where the trailer camera loom terminates. Though I know the trailer camera loom must run from the front of the truck to the rear, that short section with two unplugged connectors doesn't seem like it could be related to the trailer camera cable as I would think that would be one continuous wire loom that runs from front all the way to the back rather than having a few foot section in the middle. It would be an odd design if the trailer camera loom had this separate few-foot section in the middle as that would mean that run of cable would be split into at least three sections (this section, and one before and one after it). I just went out and looked at my pickup and there is no harness in that location, so not part of anything standard.
Perhaps related to a fifth wheel prep package (whether the OP has that or not)?

@Ponderosa Perhaps take a picture of each connector from the end? Then those familiar with the trailer camera plug style can identify if the plug could be related to trailer camera or not.

Thanks @Chadx. I'll do that

The truck does have the 5th wheel prep

Okay here's some additional pictures of both connector ends. Also the last picture I noticed that this harness is mounted to the frame in 2 places vertically, rather than being mounted so it runs horizontal front to back. Dealership says part number comes back as "wire harness" so that was of no help.

@Joeram44 do these look like connectors for the camera/tpms kit?

I was also reading in the manual about a trailer parking sensor kit, I wonder if that could possibly be related
