Put the stock long one back on. I don't like the looks 100%, but it is functional for low clearance areas as a 'feeler'.

This was exactly my thought. When I saw you post this, I had typed a message that said I would take it but stopped last minute. Then wrote another message that I want it for the looks but can't give up my warning message/feeler but also didn't send that one as I didn't want to point out the flaw of the Stubby one. But since you did. For someone that doesn't ever go in tight areas and don't use the radio this is a great mod.

My Builtrite stubby antenna is black anodized aluminum. I hope it will not get scratched…

Absolutely! My reception is fine with the stock antenna, I really don't notice it as good or bad, it's just there... Don't want to hate on anyone that feels differently though.

Yeah I'm pretty sure gm has an antenna shorter than the roof. If I had that I'd specifically get one taller. Though not sure if there's a market for that.
