Early Christmas gift!

I hope I like the paint on my King Ranch as much. Your's is gorgeous!

Ed
Thanks, Ed. I think you’ll really like your King Ranch just as much. I was torn on which paint color to go with. I haven’t had a white vehicle in over 25 years so I guess I was due for another one again. It really stands out nicely with the accented black rims and hard folding tonneau cover. I’m glad I went with the Star White now.

Thanks for the quick write up Derek, and congrats once again! The truck looks super tough at night. Hope you get over the cold quick, that's no fun this time of year.
Thank you! I’m sure the new truck will help me forget about my cold, at least a little bit...haha

I see the Platinum came with black mirror caps. That's interesting. Did you ask the dealership why it was built this way? Shouldn't they come in chrome with the Platinum trim?

Cory - It actually has chrome mirror caps. I think its hard to see them in the pictures I uploaded and possibly because they are folded in. The top section of each mirror has a chrome cap. It came with the typical chrome that the Platinum package comes with - front grill, mirror caps, door handles and Platinum tailgate plaque.
On another note, I've driven approx. 90 miles the last two days - all back roads/rural area driving. Haven't hit the highway yet. It is saying I am getting 8.1mpg right now. I'm figuring it is still in the early stages of calculating it as I still have around 3/4 of a tank left. and such little mileage on the clock. I'll post some more updates once I can shake this nasty chest cold and actually put some miles on her and be able to really test out the engine,

What do you think of the ride?

What do you think of the ride?
I think it rides really nice. The suspension isn’t too stiff, possibly because of the different shocks it comes with. There is little to no road noise from the tires. My brother in law has a ‘19 XLT and he says it rides very rough so I was expecting it to be just the same or possibly worse, but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it rides - even on the worst of roads here in MA. The 10 speed transmission shifts very smoothly and I never have a lack of power when needed. I was also surprised at how quiet the 7.3l engine is....it will be interesting to hear how nice it sounds with an aftermarket exhaust system.

Just curious if you happen to know what your rpm was cruising at 65? Supposedly the trucks with 3.55’s are at 1500.

I wish I could say I’ve been putting some miles on the truck, but instead, I’ve been laid up all weekend with a nasty head and chest cold. So, unfortunately, I haven’t been out driving at all - which is very odd for me to be down and out like this...I hate to sit still and it’s driving me (and my wife) crazy..haha.. If my memory serves me correctly, I’ve was pulling about 1000 rpm’s when driving around town (approx. 40 mph). It’s back to work for me tomorrow, so this coming week I should have more updates. I am really looking forward to taking the truck on the highway to really get a feel for the 7.3l and see how the 10 speed transmission acts.

Looking forward to any feedback, feel better.

Happy New year to All! That being said, what an awesome looking rig! Looking at you standing next to it, those fixed running boards are at your knees or above, dang! For a stock truck it sure rides high. That is the reason I had to get the deployable running boards, my wife would need a boost up every time she got in with those fixed boards. The more I see these rigs being delivered the more my anticipation grows...2020 is going to be a great year!

Thank you! I agree, the fixed running boards are high and at 5’ 2” tall my wife has a hard time getting in and out. With that being said, I actually ordered the truck with the power retractable running boards, however, it came in with the fixed ones. It was a mistake my dealer acknowledged and said Ford messed up. I took delivery of the truck, but expressed my displeasure with my dealer about it. He told me I could get aftermarket power running boards for about $2400 installed. I told him to take a hike and that it’s Fords mistake and they should make good on my original purchase order. He is checking with his Ford rep and higher ups and said he would have some kind of an answer on Thursday for me. I really hope it doesn’t end up in a pissing match between me, the dealer and Ford. Other than that, I love the truck!

I finally had a chance to take the truck on the highway today. I didn't realize I would see the huge increase in power I got from the 7.3l engine compared to my lighter F150 with the 6.2l, but it was very impressive. Entering the highway I easily hit 65mph on the on-ramp and was quickly at 85mph (which felt like 60) before I knew it. There was little to no cabin noise and the 35" tires were very quiet. The truck handles really well on the highway too. At 65MPH the tach was reading 1800 and at 70 I was hovering around 2k. The dash is showing my fuel consumption at 9.3MPG right now and I still have a half of tank left on the original tank of gas. I believe the computer is still computing my fuel consumption.
Tomorrow I am supposed to hear from my dealer regarding the power deployable running boards (see my last post on this thread). I am really hoping Ford comes through and takes care of it without a fight.
