So AI keeps telling me new 2027 F550 chassis comes exclusively with 6.7L HO diesel engine vs the SO which was standard up to and including 2026 models. The HO engine on the F550 chassis now include the upgraded parts HighOutput engines required (factory installed water-jacketed turbocharger and upgraded exhaust manifolds). Is this true or both ChatGPT and Gemini are feeding me wrong info?

Ford has removed the Standard output 6.7 altogether. You cannot get the SO 6.7 with any vehicle starting in 2027.
Does that mean while still derated the 2027 6.7L F550 chassis once deleted and tuned is going to be less prone to failure since theythey now have the HO upgraded hardware that can easily handle the extra power ? As you know, HO engines requires factory installed water-jacketed turbocharger and upgraded exhaust manifolds ...

Whats funny is I feel like they should just drop the HO nomenclature at this point altogether. What's the point of having an HO if the SO doesn't even exist anymore, it's just a model revision with a bump in power.

"Bump on power" not reflected on F550 tho. 2026 vs 2027 6.7L has identical power yet different output engines SO vs HO. Here I am asking if F550 2027 comes with all the goodies any consumer truck with HO 6.7L comes with. While stock wont make a difference , if modded the chassis trucks being already equipped with HO factory parts could cheaper to mod and easier to tune.

I went down a rabbit hole bc now i am curious, likely need a picture of an engine bay and a good shot of the turbo to truly know but this is what I found @SuperDuty1

Looks like they use engine code 99t which derates it
  • Engine Order Code: 99T
  • Engine Type: Intercooled Turbo Diesel V-8
  • Displacement: 6.7 L/406
  • Fuel System: Direct Injection
  • SAE Net Horsepower @ RPM: 330 @ 2200
  • SAE Net Torque @ RPM: 950 @ 1800
Pulled some 2027s from the web that all show the 330/950 rating.

and their fleet solutions ordering:

99t engine code has in the past been used at the SO option, so they appear to be burning through remaining SO stock, i even did more deeper search and using the vins above I looked them up in a ford parts catalogue and it shows them having the SO turbo and not the water jacketed turbo.

Pckup 99M 6.7 HO PC3Z-6K682-D TC-88 “With H.O. engine code M”
Pickup 99T 6.7 standard PC4Z-6K682-B TC-70 “Without H.O. engine code T”
F-550 Chassis Cab 6.7 99T PC4Z-6K682-B TC-70 “Chassis cab… F550 Super Duty”

Thank you for doing the leg work and clearing it up . I wouldnt have known where to start anyway.

In this case I'll be putting on hold buying a '27 F550 6.7L and wait to see when Ford either runs out of SO parts or if they address the issue of using SO parts when they clearly announce all their diesel super duty is coming with HO 6.7L engines. Again , HO or SO doesnt make a difference if you buy F550 chassis and use it the intended way, but advertising it and announcing a certain feature and not including it is interesting ( for lack of better words) and it clearly hurts the value of certain builds.
If somewhat Ford switches mid cycle to HO components, it literally screws up all the MY27 F550 diesel early orders
Thank you

just spec you a 450 @SuperDuty1 and flatbed convert it :-D (sorry was just making an assumption into you doing that).

The downside is the pickup F-450s have much lower GVWR/payloads than the commercial ones. (And have higher HP/Torque ratings)

with a tune you can get a F550 HP/Torque to match F450, there's no way to bring a F450 to F550 Gvwr/payload levels

Ask the 302 Fox Body and the jeep Cherokee 4.0.

Because the C&C are built in Avon, they may still be supplied with the older detuned 6.7.
Probably still built side by side with the HO. HO gets sent to KTP, SO sent to Ohio. No idea what will be sent to Oakville if/when super duties appear there.
