6.7 new air filter wrapped in plastic?

Did they change the air filters recently? I purchased a FA2031 Motorcraft filter from a 3rd party seller on Walmart (although shipped by Walmart) that came in what appears to be a genuine cardboard box but the filter inside is wrapped in plastic and doesn't have writing stamped on it.

There is a massive problem with counterfeit Motorcraft parts/filters/etc. Buy from verified sources only, not eBay, Amazon, or Walmart.

Chinesium rice paper. MC filters have black printing on one side of the element pleat.
Buy only from a reputable reseller like Oreilly auto parts, or one of the diesel parts sites. Or…. The dealer

I always buy from the local dealership or online from Ford dealership. Not worth the small savings on Amazon

I just picked up an air filer and a cabin filter a my local Ford dealer ( buddies the GM) the air filter was $48.23 & cabin was $32.07 buying from them it goes on to my Ford app and I earn a few pennies.

I’ve NEVER seen a plastic cover on an motorcraft air filter.
1. Don’t order shit on Amazon unless you can afford to use a counterfeit part

2. Walmart online is as bad as amazon (allegedly or in my opinion or whatever else o should say so I don’t get sued)

3. Return it at the store if you can and get one off the shelf

It’s easy to sit on the couch and order stuff online but sometimes it’s best to go to an actual store

I ordered tire pressure sensors for a second set of wheels a few years ago from Rock Auto and all four packages looked slightly different. Turned out they were all likely counterfeit and only one was readable with a scan tool. RO did honer their return policy including return shipping.
