While I agree, have had to use my insurance a couple of times. Car accident that put me in the hospital for 2 weeks and out of work for 3 months. Then scoliosis surgery for my daughter. I stopped adding up bills and EOBs once it hit $150k. Out of pocket costs for each were less than $1k. Insurance is a racket, but if you need it, it can be a life saver.

Oh Hell, you don’t have to tell me when it comes to health insurance. Our daughter went through over 2 years of chemo. The bills totaled into the millions. Shit. One bill alone was over $100k. My wife quit her job to go work part time at Starbux just so we would have 2 insurance.
 
Yup when I broke myself it was 2 ambulance rides and a life flight followed by 4 surgeries and 2 weeks in the ICU. Back then insurance covered all but rehab co pays... these days probably cost me 50k
