STOLEN TRUCK- Star White F-250 Tremor

Yep, that's why you remove the speaker. They will get the alert but they won't be able to find the airtag. Most likely they will leave the truck somewhere after they get nervous. Also... sometimes it takes several hours if not days before they get the iphone notification. If you leave the speaker in the airtag, they will find it in the truck and throw it out.
I'm quite aware, as I was the one mentioning to remove it early on in this forum. It is still easy to locate them though, even without speakers.

I shared some time ago on the forum a guy on Facebook makes magnetic airtag holders that make it easier to hide the tags...

Hang on, this is a wild one. So I currently have a Star White 2022 F250 tremor. When the order banks opened last year we ordered a 2024 identical truck to replace this one. My preferred dealer is out of state (Ohio) and I’m in Florida (Sarasota/Tampa area) Truck was ordered, build date received in early October to be built late December. Truck was built in December arrived to my dealer in mid January. My father-in-law in Ohio offered to drive the new truck to Florida to me and drive the old one back to the dealer for us. We own a construction business so we are short on “free time”. The dealership agreed to this and allowed the new truck to be released to us prior to them receiving the trade-in of the 2022. My father-in-law arrived in town last week with the new truck and got a hotel room down the street. While he was here he was driving the 2022 since he would be here visiting a couple days before heading back to Ohio. We switched all the gear from the old truck into the new one a day after he arrived so he was driving the old truck back-and-forth from our house to his hotel. on Friday morning at 6 AM. He woke up at the hotel went out to get into the truck and it was gone from the parking lot. He looked around and talked to the hotel management to no avail. We contacted the police and filed a police report for a stolen vehicle. The hotel says there is no security cameras anywhere on the building and the manager we spoke with said she has worked there for seven years and they’ve never had any cameras. The thieves were able to get into the truck without any keys, start the vehicle, and drive away. They were also smart enough to pull the fuse for the modem which prevents me or forward from being able to track the vehicle via FordPass. When I tried to look at FordPass and track the location of the vehicle, I had an alert from 2:56 AM that says an alarm was triggered. So apparently the alarm triggered they were able to pull the fuse for the horn, and start the vehicle and drive off, probably in a matter of minutes. The only evidence left at the scene was the fuse cover laying in the parking lot. My purpose of this post is to let everyone know how vulnerable these trucks are to theft. I will now seriously look into antitheft devices for my new truck, but I’m currently working with insurance to figure out how we’re gonna proceed as the old truck is wrapped up in the deal of the new truck. If anybody sees the truck around, let me know. It was a 2022 F250 lariat ultimate trimmer with a black appearance package, power, deployable, running boards, clearance lights, and I had also installed the dually rear lights over the license plate, as well as the raptor lights in the grill so the truck is fairly unique.
This recently happened to my friend and his 2020 Platinum F250. He did have an alarm, steering wheel club and GPS tracking. Truck was gone in a matter of minutes, tracked to the Port of Miami, loaded into a container and shipped to South, Central America. Apparently the drug cartels love the diesel F250.

I had the Ravelco plug added to my truck for this exact reason. It has been in place for 2.5 years without a single problem. It is old school, and the company has been around for just as long. If a professional thief sees it, they will move on to the next truck without one, as the time it takes to figure it out is way more than they want to spend sitting in your truck.

Airtags are also a good idea, but I am not sure how well it would work if you placed it inside your steel receiver tube since it needs a signal to a nearby phone to work.

Some people with Revelco try to hide the plug, I've got it front and center for the exact reason you mentioned!

First of all, I’m so sorry about your truck being stolen. That is just flat out awful. Certainly not trying to offer this as an after thought, but my truck came with Zaz GPS. It’s installed In the truck and at 1st I thought it was sort of a scam at $299, but there is tracking and the ability to report a stolen vehicle. Just a thought. Not at all saying it’s the best option, just an option!

How would you find it without the speaker? There is a million places you could hide it, inside and outside of the truck. "find my" wont give you the "precise location" of an airtag that is tracking you. The owner of the airtag is the only one that can use the "precise location" feature to do that. The only way for a non owner of the airtag is to play the sound through the speaker. That's why you remove the speaker so the thief won't have that option. What am I missing?

I bought a 4 pack today for the new truck, removed the speakers, and installed them in various “very hidden” places. There going to have to work to find these.

Is there a monthly subscription? If so how much? Also, how often does the GPS update ? How accurate is the location?

It would be so awesome for there to be an option of C4 drives seat pack with remote detonation app for i phone. I hate thieves.
I’d buy that option today if possible. Maybe even add a hidden camera facing the driver so we can see the look on his face. lol.

Ring offer a 2 way dashcam that it’s running surveillance 24/7. I’ve had my on it. Don’t quote me but I think it’s around $300 and the yearly service is $60 for 24/7 monitoring.

Does anyone know of an equivalent for Samsung that has more than 300 feet? Thanks

Question about the Ravelco. I assume you carry the plug with your key fob and insert it every time you get in and start the truck. Does this mean the remote start now doesn’t work?
