Hope everyone is staying safe out there and prepared for the next couple of days. We have been lucky and haven't lost power but several trees down from all the ice. It almost looks like a tornado rolled through my property.

Done all we can here at the house, and we drain the water and all the pipes at the ranch house each time out. Hopefully it all stays in the pipes here at the house. I will say pipe insulation is like the toilet paper outage when CV19 hit! I did think of gettin some pvc pipe and assorted fittings and caps just incase something were to break loose

I just got a bottle of vodka since it is going to be like Russia here. I am tickled by the National Weather Service winter storm warning counselling me to stock up on non-perishable foods.... My entire property is a fridge/freezer. Nothing is going to perish.

Drinking is a cure all, so I've been told.
Hope ya'll weather the storm.

12 degrees outside, 45 inside. Power has been down for over 4 hours.

Fun times!

I’m in central Texas and our power has been out since 9 am. We put all our food outside in the snow to keep it cold. ?

Power just came back on a few minutes ago after 9 straight hours. That was after an original 6 hours of outage. Hopefully it lasts. I got heater at full blast just in case.

I’m in further north DFW. With the rolling blackouts we get 10-20 minutes of power every 1-2 hours. Its been a long day and not looking forward to tonight. Everyone I know either has frozen toilets or frozen pipes. We have not had that yet. 10-20 minutes of heat just can’t keep up with the temps.

Wind turbines account for 23% of Texas’ power. Of that half of them are frozen up and out of service. Besides destroying our beautiful countryside it doesn’t seem to be working out right now.

I was going to ask that question, do they just need to thaw out also? I have also heard they are noisy.

"The ability of some companies that generate the power has been frozen. This includes the natural gas & coal generators,"

We're finally having a heat wave at 7 above !! It's been well below zero for almost a week here. But then again.......It's February and it's North Dakota! LOL
Few days next week Twin cities will be in mid 30s...we will be out in shorts rofl....

As soon as my wife graduates Dental school we are moving to Florida. We can't make a decision where we want to end up yet. Any suggestions?
Basically anywhere but Miami. The small redneck towns aren't good either. The rest is pretty good

Not to derail this thread...IF I were to move to Florida i would consider Ponte Vedra or St Aug. The issue with Florida I have is the storms...some can be pretty nasty. I read somewhere there are more lightening strikes in Florida than any other state. When it’s beautiful it’s great, when it not, it can get ugly really fast and their interstate evacuation system sucks, BTDT. Home owners insurance is a pretty high for obvious reasons.
