Winch Questions

Brand new member here. Ordered a 2021 fully loaded 6.7L Lariat due to be build Feb 22.

Did not order a winch but am considering adding it. Having difficulty overcoming the price tag since I won’t be off-roading very much and don’t envision using very much.

Curious if others have a recommendation?

Also curious if it’s possible to buy something other than the OEM winch and install in the same spot? Guessing not as that would be way too easy.

I had looked at adding an aftermarket bumper to accommodate a stronger 16k Warn winch. It looked too bulky and added more weight up front than the diesel already did. Went with the integrated look instead.

I'm going to add a Torklift Ecohit to the front and put a 12K winch in a cradle so I can use it front or back

The x plan brought the price down a couple of hundred $s. Plus there wasn’t a labor cost. I thought I heard Ford wants 3k$ plus labor. I’m not positive but I thought that was what someone said their dealer told them. It’s also under warranty. I won’t use mine much I assume. But the time I need it, it will have been worth it IMO. I pulled out the line 50’ the day I picked up my sexy beast to try it to make sure it works, and I was so impressed. My flipster license plate hides the winch. I’m stoked with the set up. JBlaze got his new Tremor stuck in some mud and his 4 wheel drive wasn’t working. He had his son in the truck with him as the little guy panicked. JBlaze busted out his winch and good ol Jimmy Boy pulled it out and his son was all smiles. ???????

I thought the cost was $3K for the winch and install. I believe if you don't have a dual battery setup the cost includes that as well. I agree a winch is a great "peace of mind" option and looks awesome. I'm going to get a winch and will probably do the cradle setup which I think will be about $1K for the front hitch, winch, and wiring. If I had the $3K for the front winch I would probably do it.

You need the 397 amp. With the XPlan mine was 2,700$. Someone called a dealer (I thought) and already had their truck. The service department said it was 3,000$ plus labor to have the winch installed. I could be wrong because the winch is less than 2,000$ to buy from a retailer. So IDK ?‍
I always want to be factual. So if someone can clarify I’d like to be sure. Either way to have it on my bumper to bumper warranty is a no brainer for me.

I got the factory winch with my Tremor. Main reason was it’d be under warranty and I knew I’d be using it fairly often. Yesterday was the first time and used it to unstick my tractor. Worked like a champ!

Has anyone purchased the winch kit from a dealership and had it installed? I'm curious as to what you get in the kit besides the winch, bumper mount and accessories? Do you get the dual battery setup and bigger alternator or is the $3K just the winch and install?

Inquiring minds what to know!!

For the $3k, you just get the winch and installation parts. Dual battery, and alternator are extra if you don't already have them, and want them.

Buy the winch and if you don't want it I will buy it from you. You can't get one from the dealer aftermarket, have to get it from the factory.

They are able to be ordered now from FP. A few on the forum have done it and it's in a thread or two.
