I paid for my winch through Ford Performance on February 5th, just received a call from the freight company. Delivery is tomorrow, I'm now second guessing the decision, I've sort of lost interest.

Sell it, I bet someone has interest in it.

I definitely would like to have one but really don't NEED one. I wish they were cheaper.

Can anyone say if they have received their truck with the winch installed or if ALL are having to be installed by the dealer after the truck is received? I am pretty nervous about getting mine installed by the dealer, but I have an appointment to get the Carli 4.5 pintop installed locally with some other goodies by a really good 4x4 shop and might just add that to the list for them. Thoughts?

If you have the dealer install it, it's covered by the standard ford warranty. Not sure about the 4x4 shop but you can ask. Either will probably to a good job depending on the mechanic.

Ordered mine March 26th after seeing post on this forum, just received it in freight delivery today from Ford Performance.

The winch is a dealer installed item. No trucks come from the factory with the winch already installed. This is the same as tonneau covers and a variety of other accessories that can be placed on the initial order.

I am interested in it if you want to divert it California

They are all installed by the dealership. You should install it yourself. It will look better and you can add a cut out switch at the same time.

Of special note: Trucks with the 7.3L gas engine require the factory dual battery option and trucks with the 6.7L Power Stroke® diesel engine require the factory 397-amp alternator option.

Here is the entire note.

Note : This winch kit fits 2020-2021 Super Duty ONLY. Trucks with the 7.3L gas engine require the factory dual battery option and trucks with the 6.7L Power Stroke® diesel engine require the factory 397-amp alternator option. Does not fit DRW vehicles. Vehicles that require a front license plate bracket will need this optional part : Front License Bracket LC3Z-17A385-BA. See a Ford Dealer or www.FordParts.com for more information.

That’s just silliness

It’s preferred but shouldn’t be required.
