Well. , I lost my temper, got pissed, said a few foul and descriptive words about incompetence .. etc etc ..
Yesterday was supposed to be a good day. After being at the dealership Monday bitching because I still don’t have my winch They later called to say, they found it on a shelf in the Body Shop ..It’s been there the whole time . So today was the install. I asked repeatedly if they knew about the revised Bolt, if they knew how to cut the trim, and to make sure it was done right, if they know to cut off the Rubber Band .. you know, all the shit we’ve learned ourselves. They assured me it was in good hands. 5 1/2 hrs later they pull it around . I only saw the didn’t install the finish moldings and lost it. The manager tried his best saying “ they don’t cut anything “ that’s the way it’s supposed to be and all the pieces they took off are in a box in the bed. I was so fuk’n pissed I left. I had my heart set on .. yes, it’s done and I can finally after 5 months move on . I realize it’s a little thing. But to me it was a finish line. Son of a bitch !! I don’t know about the “bolt” or even if they cut the Rubber Band .. i don’t know shit. I just drove it home, haven’t looked at it since.

Well I can certainly understand your frustration and anger, I installed my own and I have zero mechanic skills just for the reasons
you are sharing with us. Good news is the rubber band can easily be removed if they did not and as long as the rope was not
pulled out you should be okay just remove the two bolts yourself. The trim pieces are easy to install just gently push on as long
as the retention clips are still there. Sorry for your bad experience.

Faaaaack. This makes me angry, for you. I so wish the winch was added during the build.

I am concerned about the same exact thing. My truck will be in when it comes in (at this point) and will be turned over to the mechanics to do their thing. I just hope it’s someone who really cares about finished products and their work.

I plan on talking with the mechanic prior to installing. I hope I can pull that off. But I am buying pizza for the dealership to do all I can for a smooth process.

I’m so sorry. What ever is messed up can be fixed - but I know that’s not the point.

Dare I ask which dealership?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. My 2021 is on factory order (delivery date 6/26/21). But after seeing these posts i did call the dealer this week and ask about the wench and if they had experience with the install. He was very confident that it will be factory installed. We shall see. Thanks for sharing.

If it is, yours will be the first.

I tried to get a wench installed, but the dealership scoffed at me, and told me they were not that sort of dealer.

?

Wow, that sucks. I just dropped mine off this morning for the winch install. I did the same as you, telling them multiple times about the issues. I don't have a good feeling about how it's going to go. I didn't ask outright, but I get the feeling that the dealership hasn't installed a Tremor winch before.

The winch will not be factory installed. It is installed by the dealer. Lets face it. Unless you know of a person who takes as much pride in their work as you do, you better do it yourself.

20% of the population in the US carries the other 80. Unless an unfamiliar task can be done by a trained monkey if you get one of the 80% to do it they will not achieve the best outcome. That is why there are assembly lines. Repetition is the best way to train to achieve a desired outcome. No, chances are, your winch will be installed by a mechanic that has never done it before. Even if they follow the directions to the "T" you will be missing the center trim section.

Install it yourself, the dealer will be happy to let you, you will wind up with a better result and will have pride in the job you did.

I went out to look at it this morning. Convinced myself it wouldn't be so bad, maybe I'd install my Factor 55 Hook. Sure enough, there's a bolt going straight up into the Winch Line. Thankfully, no trim cut, just missing. I was so specific with my questions when I arrived. I asked about the Mounting Bolt and Winch Line, about the finishing Trim, about the Cable routing. I got, we know, we know. Pisses me off all over again. They're all easy fixes, nothing I can't do myself. I just expected more.

I know you guys having winch install issues are Hot about them, but if the individual Dealership cannot install this $$$ winch correctly, Ford Corporate needs to know / hear about it. That is the only way training and correcting it for others down the road is going to occur, and I know, thats slim too, but we can all hope. I took mine into the Dealership for a LOF and I got like five post service surveys, and two were from Ford, so someone may be paying some attention up in the Crystal Palace.

Count me as another that warned about the bolt... nope! "Well, this is the first winch we've installed..."

Rope is jacked. 3 times now..."are you sure that rope won't hold the load? We're having a heck of a time trying to find a replacement rope, it's not a Ford part number..." *facepalm*

Fortunately, I do have a good dealer otherwise.

Just ordered my truck yesterday. Winch included. After reading this.... I’m assuming, I can just take my truck and winch with me and have the same off-road outfitter who’s doing my pintop system and wheels to do the winch ??
You are not mistaken. Until theres a Training video, all bets are off.

that sucks, I've had the same experience with much simpler things and now I want the winch pretty afraid to have any dealer do it.
