Will amending my order affect my place in line?

I am considering amendments to my order, to include the led lights, after reading many posts.

Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so would it affect my scheduled build out date.

I am hearing folks are not happy with the halogens.

The only other thing I might change would be to add cab lights and the extra battery, as I intend to order the winch in the future.

I ordered on April 7, 2021, and received an email confirmation on the 14th.

That is all I know.

Once the order has been accepted by Ford and you have your VIN#, you cannot make changes unless you want to cancel and re-order. If you cancel, the dealer still has to accept the truck, but in this market they probably will not mind.

What’s the best way to find out if you have a VIN? Talk to my dealer? Or reach out to Ford directly?

If the order was placed correctly, your dealer will have your VIN within a week. This means they have SuperDuty allocations and they submitted it with a reasonable priority code. 10 is the highest priority, 19 is the default or lowest priority for a retail special order.

Awesome, thanks! I know mine was placed with priority code 10 so will reach out to my dealer.

Well that answers that, dealership is not great about returning calls. If that is the case, then I have a vin...

Not sure what it is, but sounds like I have one.

Note to all perspective buyers.

Spend some time on this forum, prior to placing an order.

Or kick your self like I am doing now. AfterMarket LED’s are in my future.

Thanks fellas!

Umm I could be totally wrong on this but I am pretty sure Ford hasn't started making VINs for any of the 22s yet and that doesn't happen until scheduling starts...am I wrong on this? Based on your timeline dates (ordering in April of 2021) you ordered a 2022 not a 2021 and thus probably don't have a VIN yet and should still be able to make changes. No idea if you lose "your place in line" though. Am I totally wrong on this? If so I will delete this.

I'm definitely in the same boat. I got mine without LED headlights because I thought I would've needed PTS to get LED headlights. I only learned that wasn't the case after the fact. But whatever. I got aftermarkets on order, so it's not the end of the world.

Your truck looks sweet without them though. During the day at least. ?

Yep I ordered a 22, so all this cloak and dagger nonsense from Ford/chip shortage... So frustrating.

This is why I am asking.

Good point...

Same here. I have had my 2022 Lariat Tremor on order since March and every time they send out a new production schedule I die a little inside. I will be happy if its here by Christmas at this point...but I don't have a VIN yet and I don't expect to get one until scheduling starts at least according to my dealer and based on everything I have read on here too.

I just spoke to the Sales Manager, I should know if I can make a few subtle changes to my order (tomorrow) and if it would affect my “place in line.” I will let you all know once I hear something. He stated that we likely remain in the widow of ability to make some changes. (Come on LEDs...hopefully)

You are probably correct for 2022s which is why I added the VIN# caveat. For my 2021 Order, I got my VIN in a week and when I tried to add ACC, my dealer said it was too late unless I wanted to lose my position in line and place a new order.

FWIW, it does not appear that Ford works through orders strictly sequentially. That seems true in normal times and even more so now. (We consistently see people who ordered after others get their vehicle sooner.)

It seems most likely that dealer allocation is loosely pre-scheduled and that orders are inserted into those pre-ordained slots.

If so there wouldn’t be much reason for Ford to alter your place in line so long as customizations are still being allowed. (e.g. not too close to the production date at which point parts are probably moving around, VIN is generated, etc.)

And so if your production date changes it would seem more likely that your dealer bumped you for another customer. (Something I wouldn't imagine they’re likely to do in this type of scenario.)

Yup. They look pretty decent on their chrome-trimmed black truck, which mine happens to be as well. Although I like the look of OEM a smidge better, it's not $1000 better. I think Morimoto stepped up their game this time. Their 17-19 headlights look pretty disastrous. But to be fair, Ford's LED headlights those years didn't look that great to begin with either.

You dang kids and them fancy headlights and do dads. When I was young we didn’t have all those fancy gizmos.
heck. I was happy if I didn’t have to stick a screw driver in the carburetor to choke it. Hahaha
