I hear that!

Best Part about the Yukon is although there are a few apex predators, we dont have any venomous or poisonous spiders or insects.

Id rather fight a bear than some crazy ass Australian spider haha
They live in totally different environments but I wonder if they ever got together for a fight, who’d win between a salt water crocodile and a grizzly bear. I’ve never seen a bear, but with the bite strength of a croc’s jaws and their ability to take down water buffalo they’d be quite formidable. Then again, those grizzlies look pretty formidable too.

We were camping near the Mogollon rim in Arizona and the Elk came out to feed in the meadow next to us.
Quality of pictures is from my phone.

We take a lot of pics for our farm’s social media pages. All these were taken on our property. Some of our animals and some of some animals just passing through.

Well I still have all my fingers and toes...?
we have either snappers or painted turtles on our lake. The painted ones are nice guys the snappers are nasty.

I noticed the eye is round on that guy, like the painted, I heard ( not confirmed) that if the pupil is "cat like" shaped they are dangerous ( like with snakes)

Any truth to that????

Pompey,
You winding me up, mate? Thought you were from Portsmouth but then I saw the Laugher. LOL

We live in a jungle here...

And I'll see your Wedge-tailed and raise you an immature White-tailed drooling at a puffin flying by.

And I specialize in rattlesnakes...(Great Basin - Crotalus lutosus)

I know that’s a pretty good rule of thumb for snakes in general, but I’m not so sure when regarding turtles. I’m not sure I’ve ever come across one without a round pupil. I’ve been close enough to snappers to know they have a round pupil and they are mean as hell!

There's no rule-of-thumb regarding eye shape and whether a snake is venomous, trust me. Head shape is a better indicator but far from diagnostic. The most poisonous snake in N America has a round head and round eyes - the Coral Snake.

I do my best to avoid them altogether, so hopefully I’ll never get close enough to need to make that determination.
