I've seen it mentioned a few times for other states that one or the other is cheaper to license/register. Anybody from WI who's already looked into it?

So I just bought my 2021 F350 in April and I live in Wisconsin. The fees are based on GVWR, not on the model of the vehicle. You will have the option, if you do a factory build, to select your listed GVWR. I built mine and chose the 11,500 lb option. I could have chosen the 10,500 lb option. The difference in fees was $115 dollars. I paid $150 for the 11,500 lb GVWR and would have paid $35 for the 10,500 lb option. If you are selecting from the dealer inventory, then you will have to go with what is already on the vehicle as I understand it. I could be wrong though on the dealer inventory.
My thought was about towing, which my salesman pointed out. If I were to tow something with a 10,500 lb GVWR that were to exceed that rating and get pulled over and weighed, then I could face some significant fines and other penalties. So I chose the 11,500 lb option and paid the extra $115.00.
I read what another member posted regarding what we are paying for these awesome little toys and I agreed with it as it kind of summed up my thought process at the time of my purchase. He said that younwere already paying $90k (in his case) for the truck....what's an extra $115.00? I can't argue that....lol!
I might be off just a bit on the actual cost of the fees, or they could have changed since I bought mine, but I was told something similar prior to my purchase. I was also told that in Wisconsin, if I bought an F350, I would have to get a CDL as well, which is not true. Again, a CDL in Wisconsin, in this case, is related to the GVWR and what you are towing as well as how frequently. Of this is a recreational towing type vehicle, then no worries. The Wisconsin DOT site was a little bit of dry reading at the time, but easy enough to get through that even a guy like me that moves his lips while he reads cound understand it. It was actually pretty helpful in my buying process. Hope this helps!

I pay $155 per year for my 350 Tremor

I could get away with $106 on a 250 probably never have a problem but its on the edge the way they set the numbers its in the states favor. BTW I pay the $283 for my 7.3 "silver fox"

That's the chart I was trying to find. My numbers weren't too far off based on my memory. And seeing your chart jogged my memory of the "quarter" as well. Most days...I am happy to remember what I had for breakfast....and if it's a REALLY good day....where I ate it!
