Tampa Florida since 93'

Pro's ..

The Weather
Cost of living
Reasonable Property Taxes
No State Income Tax
Republican State
Reasonable Registration fees
Overall, Excellent Roads
The Confederate Flag is proudly flown
The Cross is a common sight
Sales Tax is 7.5%
On Vehicle sales, Taxes are based on Trade difference
Did I mention, its a Republican State

Con's ..
Cost of living is attractable to others
No State Income Tax is attractable to others
Reasonable Property Tax is attractable to others
Reasonable Registration fees is attractable to others
Sales Tax is 7.5%. Thats attractable to others
The Weather is attractable to others
Over Crowding
Hwy and Interstates are often parking lots
In my neighborhood, within 20-30 min of our home, there a 5 Super Walmarts, 4 Home Depots, 3 Lowes, More Banks and Supermarkets than you can count. Strip Malls, Starbucks and Gas Stations on virtually every corner
More restaurants per Capita than anywhere in the country
Subdivisions. Subdivisions after Subdivisions
Summer Heat and Humidity is brutal
Sounds great! Any openings in your neighborhood? I can be there tomorrow!

Washington in the process of moving to Montana:

The good: No income tax in WA.
Had a great career in WA with a pension.
Best spring and summers hands down.
My boys still working and going to school here.

The bad 3rd highest gas tax soon to be the highest in WA.
Ski resorts blown out in 45 minutes after 1st chair.
Gov Inslee rolling counties back to phase 2 for COVID.
Off road motorcycle events cancelled for a second year in a row.
My Boys will still be in WA.

So Cal, eastern LA County just north of Orange County. Why? All of our families (both mine and the wife's) came to LA in 1905 when LA had 105,000 people. Roots run deep.

The good, 1 in every 100 people in the United States lives in my viewshed from my living room. That creates enormous economic opportunity.

The bad, 1 in every 100 people in the United States lives in my viewshed from my living room. It's beyond crowded.

The strange, this state has gone looney. While everything has been going crazy and politicians scream for policies that make no sense whatsoever my neighborhood is very quiet. The LA County Sheriff lives up the street. We have excellent police protection.

Blazer, have to live near a Kaiser cause it's FREE!
Her bill, if she had to pay, for the last 3 years is way north of $1.5M!
Our co-pay has been maybe a couple thousand.
oh yeah....free is good lol.

That's a lot of $. Hope she's ok.

Renton Washington
Here for Boeing career, now attached to my house of 30 years and friends/family too old to move
2 houses and business buildings on site

Pros:
Beautiful places in Western Washington
Able to confront the anti-American Left on their home turf
Close to Eastern Washington escape to sanity
2nd amendment

Cons:
Kids indoctrinated in public schools K-16
Communist politicians
Mail in voting
High taxes
Sanctuary cities

More available on request ;)
How the fuck, honest question, how the FUCK did we let the communists claim all the best coastal states leaving us the humid swamp ones?

I love living near the ocean but I'm all set with the gulf coast all the way up through the mid atlantic. The northeast and basically entire west coast is gorgeous and all overrun with god damned commies.

Lots of natural beauty in a number of the red "fly over" states but I'd always feel like I was missing something living so far from the sea.

If Washington & California were communist, the more than 60% of this forum those states represent wouldn’t be driving $80K trucks right now. Much ado about nothing.

I think we're just the non communists from the communist shitholes.

I mean in reality it's just the cities, but the districts are drawn up so LA/Frisco/SD have all the power. By population, CA is nearly split by among the 2 parties. But the Dems have a stranglehold on the whole state.

There are certainly shit loads of truck/gun/'merica loving people in these states, it's just that their votes have been silenced.

I don’t know about that. This state has a mixed bag of policies. Look at the complaints in this thread. Many of the complaints are about realities that are in direct contrast to any progressive agenda, or certainly any popular vote by city dwelling populations.

Prop 13 is still what shifts the cost burden of the state onto income and sales taxes and it sure wasn’t the Democrats or city populations that got that passed.

I also think communist is a loaded word that isn’t to be used lightly. We’re far from communism here.

we have sitting congress people who are unabashed socialists. Socialists are just communists who are too ashamed to admit what they are.

Marxist bull shit is taught in schools. No, I don't think it's that much of a stretch to say CA is a commie shithole. No, it's not actually/literally communist(yet) but if some of these leftist politicians had their way it would be. This state and the whole country are on a very dangerous slide to the left.

I don't know, maybe you like paying half your income in taxes to be pissed away by leftists. I don't.

I have a number of friends who fled eastern Europe/ former soviet states and are absolutely appalled by what they're witnessing in America. They all say the same thing, that this is what is was like right before they lost everything over there.

This reads hysterical to my eyes. The only point in here is that the taxes on some are unreasonably high in this country. Agreed. I’d like to take a red pen to local, state, and national budgets. I’d start with the trillion dollars a year we spend on outmoded defense. But that wouldn’t fly well with the walking contradictions that want lower taxes and all that the government offers at once.

UPSTATE New York... (Between Utica and Binghamton)

Pro’s:
May - Oct weather
Hunting
We live way out in the country (no neighbors!)

Con’s:
Nov - Apr weather (Snows SIX MONTHS a year!). The OLDER you get the more it SUCKS.
Upstate politics is run by NYC
COST of LIVING
45 minute drive to any entertainment

I retire for a second time in 714 days. We will then purchase a home in Florida and take a year exploring the country with our Tremor and our 35’ Winnebago.

No no no .. you misunderstood, Florida is full. ;);)..

Just a little south of Fort Worth, TX

The good:
- it’s Texas
You win. Love Texas. We looked at property just north of Huston in Lake Conroe. Beautiful 1 acre lots. Really nice area .. Met the people that we would be living next to, with all intension he's said, we don't like people from California or Florida. Of course I laughed in his face, pissed him off even more ..

Agoura Hills CA

I moved here to chase $ as I got a job at an asset management firm that was too good an opportunity to pass up.
My commute is brutal because my office is in the Century City neighborhood of L.A. and so I'm spending 2.5-3 hours a day in traffic.

The Good:
very nice quiet suburb
beautiful scenery, mountains
awesome roads for motorcycling
phenomenal schools
20 mins to Malibu beaches
SoCal Good in General:
good beaches
perfect weather year round for all kinds of outdoor activities
CA has several amazing national parks and even non national park areas have some of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in the country if not the world.

The bad:
Democrat state run like a third world banana republik where everyone hates freedom
punitive taxes
obscene cost of living even an hour+ away from work
~10% income tax, 9.5% sales tax (everything taxable, no break for necessities like clothing)
homelessness everywhere
shit tons of violent crime (but I live far enough away from it)

If it weren't for the liberal bullshit, I'd wholeheartedly love it here, but I can't see myself staying for more than a few more years. I miss America.
Same here. Born in Yuba City, raised in Oroville. I left so many great friends and family when we moved. It's just not the same place it once was. Thats sad, because there are places there I could live forever.

Funny you say that. I can’t wait to flee NY. Hopefully to Tennessee, but I feel like I won’t be welcomed because I’ll be “one of them”. Lol. And when you say you’re from NY, everyone assumes the shit hole NYC.

Scottsdale, AZ

GOOD:
-Out of California.
-Great winter weather.
-Lots to do outdoors.
- Housing cheaper than CA.
-Wife opened up her medical practice here, and it’s doing well.
-Good places to eat and shop, but I don’t feel over crowded.

BAD:
-Snobby people in Scottsdale
-Close to Phoenix ( shootings, drugs, Homeless)
-Fucking Kuwait hot in the summer, it’s hot as hell.
-Lots of California people coming.
-Away from brother, Dad and other family.

Wife and I love AZ, we love up north to Prescott, Payson or Flagstaff.
