I'll be in spots soon where I need to be airing up/down. What are you guys running for a portable compressor?

Just a hint, the "Walmart" roadside emergency kit pump will not work for these tires (or a lawnmower for that matter!). Get yourself something with a good flow capacity, duty cycle and storage tank and the remainder of features are up to you. One of the larger decisions might be to permanently mount something or to go with portable, your choice.

i am using this beast

with one of the big batteries i can air from 20 psi to 55 psi in all four tires and also air up 3 out of 4 jeep tires from 10 psi to 30 psi on one battery it takes about 20 mins to do all 7 tires, its not the fastest but it gets the job done and can use with other tools as well, and move between the truck and my jeep on what vehicle i am using

I have the single ARB in the Jeep, The VI Air 444 in my air ride car and trust me that on gets really hot and It goes into a large Aluminum tank for the Air Ride suspension.

I will be installing the twin ARB with a tank on my Tremor.

Hard wire to a pressure switch to keep the tank full, air line to a quick release point in the bed. For air in large tires you need a tank plus a good compressor they draw a ton of power so the twin batteries and twin alternates is a bonus. I will probably replace the VI with an ARB in the car.

Been using Viair for years but agree ARB has a great reputation.
I chose to get the Viair 440P, seemed to be very capable and at a decent price point. I was not looking for a permanent mount although it could be adapted to be that, just looking for something to throw under the back seat. Time and use will tell if it is good choice or not.

The portables are real nice if you have multiple trucks/ jeeps but the on board and set up right kits are so nice.

I will have three vehicles each with their own air compressor.

It gets really hot if you charge up a pair of tires be careful
not to burn your seats or yourself. Mine is installed in my trunk with rubber isolators, you can not touch it if I air up the car. There is less air in my bags than a set of 35inch tires.

Good point, but the pump would not be in the truck when in use. It will be clamped to the battery and outside the vehicle. I just want a pump for occasional (or emergency) use, not really using my Tremor as an off-road machine but I will definetly take it there once in a while. Tonight for example, I would be snow running on the 100 acres behind my house. Having a flat would suck, but the walk home wouldn't be too bad if I couldn't fix it on the spot.

just be careful as it gets really hot, I guess you can grab it by the bottom but do not grab the end that looks like a handle. The tank on my car is set with a pressure switch to 147 PSI. I can run up to 125 psi per bag ( there are 4) so plenty of pressure just not so much air volume.

Honestly I'm leaning toward one of these considering I'm not going to be using it every weekend. I might just build my own.
Yeah I want a tank, that might be a good one. You could still have the onboard compressor and the option of removing the tank.

For me the onboard compressor along with the tank is the way to go. Camping trips, We are always airing up swim tubes and things while camping.

That’s what I’m thinking of doing. Just going with a portable tank. It’s simple, and I can take it with me in a different vehicle if need be. Plus they last quite a long time. Especially if you either get a large 10-15 lb. tank and have like a 5lb. Spare.
