Hi,

I ordered a 2022 F-350 KR 6.7 Tremor in AMB/Stone on 05/26 i received an Order Preview w. my build for which i signed off on as being accurate. i supplied a deposit, my drivers license and received a call from Ford finance to pick loan finance options. My dealer says they will have no further information until July.

My question is; how can a dealer submit an order to the order bank and not receive any documentation ? wouldn't i at least have an order number ?

The order preview contains; Order Code, Sales Code, Price Level and a Priority Code (10)

Thanks

I got a purchase contract with some general info no vin ( they emailed me one a few days later) What you got sounds like what I had. We both signed it.
They generated the sales contract upon delivery. I put $500.00 down. that varies.

It takes a couple weeks but when the order is accepted they will be able to give you the provisional VIN. For me this took 2 weeks last year so with the new delays a moth sounds right.

Thanks guys ! seems like my experience is "par for the course" since i sold my 2018 F-150 earlier this week I am getting anxious for this process to move along.. I am now daily-ing my IDI turbo diesel Nissan Patrol which is a painfully raw experience after having a refined modern day diesel.. driving a tractor motor gets old fast..

As it was explained to me the process is the Dealer submits and then like every Wed/Thu Ford reviews and accepts the orders. So for me it was like two weeks after they said it was accepted and like 4 weeks after I got a VIN, but that was late 20'. So, with the supply issues, could be longer now.

I stopped in the local dealer and we built my truck together, they submitted on 4-15 then just last week I got a message to get them a copy of my drivers license to confirm it was a real order.. the dealer said I don’t need to put money down as I will pay for the truck in full once I inspect it, hopefully that was a true statement... I have not bothered calling them to check on a build date as of yet...

I "built" mine at home on Ford's website and then printed it out. Took it with me to the dealer 12/23/20. Salesman walked me through the options I'd picked, then someone at the dealer entered into their/Ford's? system. He then printed off a "Vehicle Order Confirmation", which listed all my options/prices/priority code etc and we signed off on it. I put down a $1k deposit and began the wait.

Dealer notified me 2/2/20 that they had my VIN. On 2/8/20 I entered my VIN on Ford's website and noticed my build wasn't showing the remote start option listed on the window sticker (was missing the $250 option price also). I had entered the VIN prior to 2/8 but hadn't noticed the missing option, so don't know if it showed earlier or not. Dealer showed it on their paperwork (which was also on my paperwork), and so they checked on it with their Ford rep - no one knew what had happened but I was told it was too late to make a change.

I decided it wasn't worth starting the process over just for that (have been using the FordPass app if needed), but never did figure out where the ball was dropped - was it on the dealer's end when ordering, Ford's end, victim of pandemic bs or ???

Not sure what advice to give to make sure it doesn't happen to someone else - all the paperwork showed it, but by the time I could see the window sticker online it was evidently too late to change.

As for a deposit, I had about half the dealers I contacted tell me they required a deposit. The others told me no deposit required, what I was ordering could be sold easily if I happened to back out and they weren't worried about it, though that made me wonder if it could be sold out from me easier without my $$$ holding it???

this was my experience as well, good to know its normal.

The answer to the question of how a dealership can submit an order and not get anything back is that they can’t. The dealership gets a Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement (DORA) back from Ford when they submit the order. Shows all the build details, invoice price as well all plans pricing, e.g., X-Plan, and shows the order number. Ask for a copy.

My experience wasn't a lot different. I signed on a build sheet. Submitted a credit app "we want to make sure you can actually buy a $80k truck", gave a $500 refundable deposit and about 5 agonizing weeks later I got a VIN. It was all smooth after that.
