I have a 21 F250 6.7l Tremor. Stock. Ive have a 24 foot enclosed trailer with race car about 8000lbs. I towed for the first time last weekend. Terrible. Truck felt like it was all over the road. Worst tow set up yet. Ive towed the same trailer with at least 4 other 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks with no problems. Is it the suspension being higher that regular? The 35" tires? Or what? Has anyone else experienced this with the tremor? Thanks

Maybe lack of rear sway + tall squishy tires?

How many miles are on your truck?

What tire pressure you running and what is tongue weight on your trailer? Do you use a WDH?

I have the same problem with my 25' toy hauler, especially in high wind and when semis go by on the highway. I run 60psi in the front and 70psi in the back and it seems a little better, but my next step is going to be new tires. I want to put BFG A/T on it but I was told I need new wheels for those tires. Even though I'd rather not run M/T this thread caught my eye.

I was running what Ford recommends 80 back 60 front. No WDH. I’ve never towed with a WDH or had problems before.

Biggest problem is the large MT tires. I read somewhere where the overall width of the rims is not that wide, but not sure. So perhaps there are more tire options out there for your Tremor wheels. Main thing is that you have the load rating on whatever tire you get

You can fit Toyo AT 3 on the stock rims

Thanks. I didn’t even mention that. When big rigs go by I feel like my truck almost gets sucked into them. It’s ridiculous. It Hass to be something to do with either the suspension or the tires on the truck.

What are MT tires

WDH would help I bet. Even if it's a just a Reese cheapie. It makes a pretty big difference in my experience towing about that much with a half ton (which is semi-heavy for a halfer)

You're talking about aerodynamics and a pretty normal phenomenon which I don't think the suspension has much to do with. As for the truck's tires ability to resist the aero forces at play, possibly due to the Tremor's height, I would say tire pressure needs looking at more. I am more certain that a WDH is indicated.

MT = Mud Terrain

I have been looking at this system as well.

We want to invest in a 5th wheel so I am not sure I want spend the money on a new hitch. I might just grin and bear it til the 5th wheel shows up.:)

I've towed my track car with an 18' open air trailer ( about 5500lbs tow weight) + my slide in camper (1200lbs) in the bed and the truck hauled it perfectly fine. Tires were set to 75psi rear/70 front. Towing w/ the 6.7PS. When hot the tires would get to 87/82. 14mpg round trip.

Tire pressures certainly are a factor in feel as the sidewall flex can play in to the drifting effect these trucks can give. I can't speak for the 7.3 as I haven't driven one however these 6.7L trucks are designed to haul and be wheeled which is a tall task considering those are typically geometrically opposed forces in terms of design but I think Ford found a happy medium with the rear end suspension package and driveline setup. Tongue weight or essentially the trucks' weight distribution over the rear axle vs the front is a possible factor here. Too much weight in the rear can make the front feel floaty. Any idea what your tongue weight is? I also try to keep my tow speed on the highway between 65-75mph. Anything above that seems to cause the truck to fight the wind unecessarily. I think a few folks on this forum have ventured down the path of a weight distribution hitch to help with towing "feels".

OP - Also how does the truck track on the highway without a load behind it? if it doesn't feel great then you should get the truck alignment checked... I've heard a small number of trucks have had their alignment be not ideal right out of the gates...

Oh I'm at 8500 miles and my tires are wearing in pretty nicely. Rears will be rotated up front @ 10K miles.

I have noticed my truck gets pulled around really bad if a big rig drives by. Personally, I feel the truck really needs a sway bar.
For me I'm taking the truck to the dealer.
