Can anyone tell me who builds the factory shocks for our Tremors?
That may answer the next question……why do a lot of people change the factory shocks to Fox, Bilstein or other boutique brand seemingly almost immediately after purchase?
The factory shocks look purpose built. I believe they are twin tube design(I think I read that somewhere).
Thanks

I remember Rancho shocks were stock on FX4, which they put those on Chevy's too but Rancho is owned by Ford lol
I didn’t know that Ford owned Rancho…..I’ve owned some really good Rancho shocks in the past. I believe they were 9000 series.
I would have guessed Monroe, but I’ve not seen any shocks with the “bulge” on the bottom before.

I might've been incorrect about Ford owning, I think they have a collaboration not an "ownership"

Because no matter how you cut it, they're still crappy twin tubes. If they did a monotube/IFP, i think more people would keep them but these have TINY pistons. That said, the 500 miles i kept mine on for, i was pleasantly surprised to see the Ford engineers put sufficient rebound damping into the shocks. The on-road ride was pleasant and large bumps didn't turn my truck into a speed boat like previous non-tremors I'd owned. In the dirt, they'd be trash over 5mph.

As i'll be doing larger loads and plenty of off-road in mine, a large diameter shock with a remote reservoir made WAY more sense.

I’ve been off-road in a Tremor and thought it rode great….but we were in some really rough terrain and not trying to catch air.

My perspective is a bit different but I am harder on my trucks than most. Here's my last SD:

I thought the stock Tremor shock was a painted black Rancho 5000X with a Tremor sticker on it. Specs seem to match it. Larger body etc.

The Rancho 5000X doesn’t have the obvious “bulge” at the bottom of the shock body.

I put Rancho 9000's on my 2011 F250 FX4....after some time, one of the adjustment knobs broke off. No big deal, they have lifetime warranty on them. Called Rancho and while talking to the rep, he told me that even though the stock shocks were labeled as Rancho 5000's that Rancho didn't actually make them.

Was he talking about the Tremor shocks?….or the stock shocks on a 2011.
I’m wondering who builds the shocks that come on our Tremors.

Great Truck!!! You definitely have the perspective! I've had Rancho shocks, and they're way better than OEM factory, but there is no comparison between King - Fox - Icon shocks vs Rancho, BDS, Skyjacker, etc.
