Is there any sort of tray or organizer we can get to use the space in the center console when the vault is closed? I hate just putting things on top of the vault and then having to pick up 5 items to open the door. Id like to be able to just pick up the tray if that makes sense as I only use the vault really for those times I need to leave my pew pew goin into locations you cant carry in.

Great idea! Following along to see what you find, or what others suggest. My first thought would just be a desk tray or something, but would be difficult to find one short enough I think.

Could use a small tackle box or lure box. I have several in different sizes, heres one on amazon.

Oh that's a good idea! Could cut off the lid for easy access and just use the bottom of it.

I was thinking more along the lines of something like one of those kitchen drawer organizers for knifes, forks, etc..but maybe only like 4 compartments sort of thing. Heck even just one big open tray would be ok as long as its easy to just raise or take the whole tray out with your small items in it to access the vault. Need to go look at how much room there actually is to work with.

I used my dogs canvas water bowl.

That looks good for folks without the console vault, but OP was asking about an organizer to sit on top of the vault. It's a relatively shallow area since most of the console space is inside the vault.

Ahh missed that, my mistake (y)

My question is, does this not defeat the purpose of the console vault?

I was under the impression you wanted to open the console & easily/quickly access the vault & not have to lift off a tray or move other items to access the vault

Just sort of seems like it hinders access to the vault and will clutter up accessing it

Not OP, but for me I keep some stuff on top of the vault that I want quick and easy access to. Napkins, extra face masks, perhaps some papers temporarily, etc. There's enough space on top that it's useful. Everything thus far that I've wanted secured by the vault aren't things I need super regular access to, but is nice to have secured.

Also, by having the space on top of the vault, it means I can leave the vault fully secured (combo scrambled) at all times rather than needing to remember to scramble the code when I leave the truck. With the code scrambled there's nothing particularly quick about getting inside the vault anyways.

That does make sense, have not gone down that line of thought, guess I’m accustomed to big stuff in console vault & napkins and such in the glove box and since the only place I go that requires a mask is the VA hospital and they hand them out like candy the glove box has several lightly used ones gathering dust lol

I’m struggling with what console vault to go with, the 1/2 one is fully enclosed metal with what seems a good lock/combo that does not need a microscope to read the numbers at night, but how use full is 1/2 the console for larger items

The larger ones seem to be mostly a insert with thinner steel & easy to access if you cut into the console or to pry open with a blue bar, especially if you keep tools in your truck.

However, they both seem good to deter somebody who smashes a window & spends 20-30 seconds grabbing what he can find and then running away

Just thought I'd drop this here. I just picked up a 2022 F350 with the console vault. I also wanted a tray and realized that I still had the original tray that could no longer be used because of the vault. I got to looking at how it might fit and realized it would with some modification because it was too tall toward the front of the console due to a large protrusion on the lid. I cut the corner off with a dremel cutting tool, removed the floor of the piece, turned it around and then used a soldering iron with a wide flat bit to plastic weld the remaining piece back on to the original tray (Welded both outside and inside for additional strength). Finally, I cut down the mat that sits inside and it now fits just fine on the drivers side and is easy to manage when wanting to get into the vault.
