Tranny temps?

Curious to know what transmission temps you folks are seeing. I was shocked to see 217 deg. on my 7.3 with 200 miles no extra weight and 39 deg outside air temp compared to my 6.0 diesel with torqshift runs in the 160 deg range.

mine runs around 203 and gets there fairly quickly

Lot of talk about this on another forum. Apparently Ford has found that the transmissions operate better at higher temps and anything under 230 is supposedly ok. I'm used to seeing 190 during the summer and maybe 208-ish when towing in hot weather on previous trucks.

I see 218 regularly on my 2020 while unloaded just driving around and it's been winter.

Oil temps seem to run "hot" as well... at least hotter than I though it might would be.

According to the trans failure chart you can expect 80,00 miles if you average 200 deg and 40,000 at 225 deg not sure if that is considering synthetic oils.

Not sure how to do that but if you search automatic transmission temperature charts there's a few to look at.

Running about 208-212. Unladen. Stop and go traffic around town. Gauge is dead center. 195-205 highway cruising.

210 on hi way today for 4 hr drive.
was 210 every time I checked except once when it was 205.

Transmission temp got up to 217 degrees towing 7000 lbs up the White Bird grade at 65mph yesterday.

Checked mine yesterday after it was all warmed up. Only 207 degrees.

Looks like 196-215 ish standard driving. Having a hard time accepting this is the new normal...

Yes the temps just keep getting hotter!!
In days gone by these temps would have finished your tranny in short order.
