Trailer Brake Polarity

Is there a way to change the polarity for the brakes? Hooked up to my trailer and it locks the brakes once connected.

I do not have that problem with my other trucks I pull the trailer with

Are they locked up when you are in drive? Because the trailer I rented would lock up the trailer brakes when it was in park but you release when you put the truck in drive

No they lock up in drive. I’m assuming once connected as well.

There may be a short in the trailer harness somewhere ... Would check with a multimeter

What's the gain set to? The higher it is the more likely the brakes are to lock up, especially on a small trailer. Can adjust the gain with the plus/minus buttons by the trailer brake controller.
