I am in the process of investigating thermal camera options for the truck. Ideally, I would like to feed the camera output to the infotainment screen with the add-a-camera feature built in. I am toying with the idea of having the camera removable when not in use, or a permanent placement option. The front of my truck has a million things on it, so maybe the roof - not sure yet.

Something like this: https://www.americantrucks.com/supe...nc-2-3-factory-backup-camera-ir-fdecu-02.html

The other option would be to go through CarPlay. I am also looking at FLIR options around that - but ideally not through the phone.

More to follow...

If this is to monitor the rat problem, it's fantastic! 😜

If that’s the case then I believe we should start calling him Verminster instead!

Thankfully, we have been rat free in the barn this season. I have seen a growing number of coyotes running around on my cameras - so it may be nature doing it's thing!

Brother you are speaking my language as I did not even know this was a thing. I am following this very closely!

Sign me up! - oh, wait, this isn’t a group buy? I would love to have this! Don’t even know how’d I’d use it yet, but I love the James Bond upgrades for sure!

Cool!!!!!! I used to work at a place that had 4 Lenco Bearcats with full FLIR cameras on all sides it was bad ass!!!! Earthroamer also has FLIR on the front of those rigs (if you need some ideas). Definitely interested in seeing what happens with this!

Jeep Wagoneer and Mercedes have had this. I'd be interested in this for sure.

That was the brand

That was the brand I was going to recommend. I want to put a thermal camera on my front light bar or when I get a roof rack for those late night cartel runs. lol jk, I just want one. Always wanted to setup the truck for what I might need to use one day.

You could always mount an optic like some of the weapon based FLIR systems that have output options which means it would be removable. Attach a low profile rail piece to the roof or (wherever) and then run a cable to the vehicle and optic. When done driving slap it on a rifle and have at it. Not a clue how youd tie it in to the screen in vehicle, thats above me. I like this as it is a dual purpose option and it doesnt have to sit out ready to be stolen when not in use.

Interesting idea!

Definitely looks cool, would this use the aux video hookup then in Sync? Wish I had the cash for this but I couldn't agree more, its a missed opportunity to upsell people, there's some very valid safety benefits from a system like this. Don't Lincolns have NV? Or maybe used to years ago?

Many vehicles do have this option. I think Lincoln may have been one. I know some German cars have this option.

That does not say Sync 4, so that could be a thing - but I am not married to that option. I may do something different.

Another potential camera. https://getnightride.com/

I read the directions for my aux camera / TPMS system today, and it’s all integrated. I am seeing what the camera contacts are and how they pin out. Seems like a run around to use the Ford harness - we will see. More to come.

FLIR systems are awesome and can be life savers!! I have had one on my last two cruisers and on my Scout fishing boat!
Even with Radar and GPS plotter, having the FLIR makes heading out the Gate for salmon in darkness/fog a much safer passage!! 👍
