Well Ford needs to compete with Telsa and GM/Microsoft. But this just makes it much easier to track wherever you drive

So glad I got sync 3 now. I am really getting Leary of these big tech companies encroaching into every corner of our lives, especially in light of all the recent events. If Google doesn’t like your politics do they disable your vehicle..... maybe look at Parler. Oh crap I forgot I was on an Apple device.....well it was nice knowing you guys ?

The fact that the truck is already connected to ford via cell modem makes me leery of what they are doing. They lure you in with the free ford pass service but who knows what its really capable of? Tinfoil hat off now lol.

Of course in 5 yrs you prob wont be able to buy a vehicle not connected in some way.

It's not a tin fool hat theory. It's true. All our tracking data is being stored somewhere.

There may not be people actively tracking each of us individually, but the data is still being collected.

Absolutely, if you are suspected of committing a crime, the police will get a search warrant, and Ford/Google will HAPPILY give them your personal driving history (and cell phone history). If Google maps shows that you were in the vicinity of a crime, that'll be evidence used against you.

If you are planning to commit a crime, you better leave your smart phone at home, and take public transit to and from the future crime scene.

If you have a mobile phone, they are tracking all of your information. If you have Alexa or Google at home, they are already doing this. We are already in the Matrix folks.

Personally, I don't care if they track me. They will be bored watching me drive around town.

Boy, howdy! Meet me at the ol' Double X Bored ranch!
I get why drug dealers don't like this and Osama bin Laden
sure regrets using his cell phone, huh? He thought he was
ordering shish kebab! Plus my sources say he didn't get his
52 virgins but he was probably good with a couple well used
nanny goats.

But a insurance company can ding you for driving to fast or braking too hard. That’s all I care about. I’m not doing anything illegal. But guys with a few girlfriends at once better take public transportation so they don’t find out. I can see this being used in divorce hearings.

Instead, its use of Android would be “uniquely Ford and Lincoln,” Ford’s VP of strategy and partnerships, David McClelland, said in a conference call with reporters. A spokesperson confirmed that Ford would be swapping its current backend provider, Blackberry’s QNX, with Android. The automaker will then build a new version of its Sync operating system on top of that Android-powered software.

if you read further it still will be called "Sync XXXX"

or just take this box out :)

Even easier: just pull fuse 8 from the cabin fuse box to kill power to the modem. That’s my plan when I get my truck.
true. just have to use usb drive to update your sync 4 after that's if your getting sync 4 sync 3 you still have to manually update

You can put the fuse back in periodically when the truck is stationary to get OTA updates and then remove again.
Nice. I think this is what I will do. Anyone that works at ford or a dealer can pull your info from vin as your mileage fuel level Dtc's etc. they say its to make it all easier..Yeah ok Id rather not send them all that info
