I had the switchblade key on my F150, and I really really really miss it on my new super duty. The new key with the push start trucks is horrible for using to lock the backseat or the glove compartment or the center console.

I don't bother to lock anything in the cab - it would just result in more damage. Anything valuable goes into the Knaack tool box bolted into the bed INSIDE the Diamondback cover.
Fort Knox on wheels.

In Europe you don't even lock the doors if you street park -
it saves buying new door glass.
Pro tip: If you have a rental leave the doors unlocked and buy a local newspaper every few days to throw on the seat to make it look like you're a local, the thought being that the slimebags will associate 'local' with there not being anything of value inside.

In my opinion, they reached the pinnacle of key technology in the 90s and should have stopped there. When they finally went to one key to open everything instead of having a second key for the doors and instead you had a small key fob to lock and unlock the doors if you wanted. You could choose if you wanted the bulk of the fob or not and you had one small key that was all you had to have if you didn't want to carry more. All of the new keys/fobs are so bulky. I also hate the new huge phones, but thats another story.

The fob's bulk is NBD to me but I regularly set off the stupid panic alarm, usually when both hands are occupied and unable to fish the fob out. ?

What problem are you having? I dont understand, its a key

You can change that in FORScan to a Double Press.

You can get a separate blade key cut to keep on the keychain so you don't have to use the one in the fob. I would use that one for the center console and the backseat. I love the push button start and keyless entry. I never use my key. It just sits in my pocket.

I like this suggestion. I tried Home Depot, but they can’t do auto keys. My dealer said it would be super expensive to use them. So I’m gonna call around for a local locksmith next week.

you have to find a place that does laser cut keys

Try a mechanic. My mechanic friend cuts and programs keys. He has the same equipment that dealers use. Most locksmiths I've tried don't deal with automotive keys because the programming equipment is so expensive. Dealerships practically have a monopoly for keys
