My Friday morning trip to work in rural WI was complicated by a Bambi attack. Heavy fog and darkness. I saw a flash coming from the passenger side ditch and she was on a dead run. She made it to the highway centerline before I hit her. Shockingly, the truck faired quite well, much better than Bambi. Repair estimates came in at $500. I was out today and the adaptive cruise didn’t work. Could this be an issue from the area struck by the deer?

Unless these is more damage than it appears in the photo, I would 100% order those couple of plastic trim pieces and swap them out myself. If adaptive cruise still remains on the fritz you can always run it by the dealer and play dumb. No way, no how would I file an insurance claim and have a record of damage on carfax for that. Not a snowballs chance in you know where.

Just my take; ultimately your truck.

Thx

Bummer!

While we're on the subject. Anybody install a FLIR system? I drive a ton at night and have been considering it

The sensor for the Adaptive cruise is just behind that black plastic trim just to the left of the tow hook in your second picture. There are a few position adjusting screws holding it in place. It may just need recalibrating if its not broken.

Lots of deer were out on the move today. I think they got the seasons mixed up

The law of gross tonnage always prevails, which is why the poor saps driving a Subaru gets the heck out of my way.:ROFLMAO:

I'm with @ICT Tremor, replace the trim pieces, clean it up and take it to the dealer if the adaptive cruise still isn't working....make sure it's not turned off for whatever reason.

i have the plastic piece that goes over the tow hooks as well as the tow hooks i can sell them to you if you want them? i don't have the fog light housing ... but yea the adaptive cruise module to behind the plastic on the left side of the drive side tow hook

I would always tell the guys in the MSF classes I taught "it's the right of weight, not the right of way." That, and "he with the most lugnuts wins."

Where’d you get those red tow hooks? ?

Hey at least your ok, and your Tremor will be tip top when you get it repaired.
????

bummer but yeah if adaptive cruise broke then the impact probably broke your radar.

Had the rear of a deer explode in front of me when I hit it with my Hayabusa some years ago. Still scared driving down small country roads. I've seen some ultrasonic stuff that's supposed to scare off wildlife. Anyone have any experience with them?

When my truck got hit by the RR, warning lights came on for adaptive cruise and pre collision despite minimal damage to the side of the bumper. It fixed itself upon restart. It may be mis aligned since it's closer to where your impact is.
