My ‘87 mustang had a remote fuel door latch with the button in the glove box. Anybody else have thoughts of doing this? This might be a cool project for the summer. A neighbor a few years back was sabotaged when someone dumped sugar down the filler neck. There was sugar crystals left inside the fuel filler and on the sides. Most likely some kids.

I had a ‘93 LX 5.0 that didn’t have the power remote, but at the time, all the parts were available and I installed everything. As long as parts are available now, don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

The wife’s durango has a fuel door remote. Unfortunately when it gets about 20 degrees F, (we live in upstate NY) it doesnt release. I can hear the solenoid, but the door doesnt spring forward. I have to smack the door or use a credit card to pry it open. I may have to rethink this.

Yep, I lived in AL and LA at the time, so never had that problem.

Once the thug prys your fuel door open you might have been better off with a locking fuel cap. This is a very secure cap. Just a thought.

I cant tell from the pic. Does that use a standard key shape, it looks totally round? ( at work and i cant zoom that well from my phone)

It’s a very unusual key not at all easily defeated - not a standard key.

That's the ticket, locking fuel cap! I'm still trying to find one for my Kubota that sits unprotected on a remote property, so far no vandals, but you never know! Hoping that if somebody wants anything, they just siphon the fuel and don't sugar the tank!

Awesome. Any idea if there's one available for gas?

Maybe give a call to the number on the cap. I don’t recall seeing any listings for a gas cap. But that does not mean they don’t make them. ??
