I keep seeing people post about how 350 in some states is more money or complicated vs a 250. Is FL or NY one of these states? Ill be registering my truck in FL. But once I get out of the Army ill most likely end up back in upstate NY.

Car Registration Fees
To register any vehicle in Florida that does have a Florida registration there is an initial registration fee of $100. In addition you will pay a standard registration fee based on the vehicles weight as follows:

  • $27.60 for vehicles under 2500 pounds
  • $35.60 for vehicles between 2500 and 3499 pounds
  • $45.60 for vehicles over 3500
NEW YORK
YEA FUCK THIS!!!!!

Determine the fees and taxes for passenger vehicles
Use the both the registration fee and county use tax charts to determine your registration fee and county use tax.

If this is the original registration of your vehicle, in addition to the registration fee and county use tax, you must pay

  • the fees for your vehicle plates ($25.00)
  • your title certificate fee of $50.00
  • the sales tax - the amount of the sales tax depends on the purchase price and your locality. You can see the current sales tax rates by jurisdiction at the Department of Taxation and Finance web site.
There is a minimum 2-year fee of $32.50 for a vehicle that has 6 or more cylinders, or for an electric vehicle. Dealers, this minimum fee is not a surcharge or an additional fee. 1

Thanks. Iv registered stuff in FL before. Just tryign to see if its anything crazy for a 350. I think i read some people have to do it as commercial, which idk what that means/entails.

And ya I agree. Fuck NY. But its home. Im up in the Adirondack area so its not bad there.

my plan to to buy land in TN where it is $50 for one year and no inspection and anything and if you say army you just need a address my plan ... and TN has no income tax ... and property tax is stupid low in most area.. like .004%

Cali is pretty brutal too. I needed to be at 11400 or below. I was happy when I found out the tremor came in at 11300

I don't think it's too bad in rural Texas, or any area with less than 400K people. Stupid fees. States will make their $$$ their own way though. Property tax where I'm at is expensive.

I am from Western NY...Joined military in 1978...lived all over...Lived in Clarksville TN 14 years before moving to NC.....TN IS the best state in the union!!!

Wisconsin was low until we got a new Governor two years ago, He likes to give out hand outs so he tried to raise our already high gasoline tax but it failed. He was able to sneak a huge raise in vehicle registration and it really goes up fast when you get over the 3/4 ton truck plates.
I feel very sorry for the truckers. They are getting the wrong end of that.

I probably should have went with the 250 to save the fees, not because I can't afford them its the principle of giving that clown more money.
We have plate fees, title fees and registration fees. Yes all three, if you live in certain counties there is also a wheel tax if you keep you vehicle at home.

My Tremor cost $130 for the plate and $775 personal property Tax to register! Thats 900 bucks in NC.......and it is an F250. And yes I paid sales tax on it to! Next year it will only go down a little.....stupid!

I agree, however, Memphis is the worst place in the union. It is not a reflection of TN and this city should be its own state.

its a major city .... its like Baltimore for Maryland... they make all the laws but they don't make since in places in maryland where it is all farm land.

Your right about that......it is like....another world!

I tried to estimate what it would cost and if it would be commercial for an F350 in New Mexico. The language on the NM DMV website is so vague I have no idea. I’m no genius but I’m no idiot either. Couldn’t figure it out....

NY might be 140 for 2 yrs but that's a hell of a lot better than the 600+/ year it is in CA and that was for the F-150 I had. I won't be registering the Tremor in CA.
