What is the difference between these 2 shades of red?

Have never seen them in person & looking to go with the one that more closely resembles the same red they used in 97 on the F250 powerstroke.

Hopefully someone who has seen all three colors in person will be able to comment on which modern color is closest to the classic. The reason I say this is pictures of colors can be incredibly deceiving. The combination of the lighting the picture was taken in along with the camera settings used (even if decided automatically by the camera) can result in the same color appearing vastly different in two different pictures.

In general, as can be kind of seen in the pictures above, Rapid Red is a darker, deeper red when compared to Race Red. Additionally, Rapid Red is metallic whereas Race Red isn't. This means Rapid Red will have metallic flakes adding to its depth and give it a touch of "sparkle".

To me the pictures of race red all seem to have some orange, from just a tad, to quite a bit of orange

Have also read that the race red has some metal flake you can see in direct sunlight, but no idea if this is true.

Really like both shades of red, but looking for the bolder, brighter, sharper & deeper red if that makes any sense

I know neither of my pics show good lighting, was looking for one and couldn't find one.

I feel your interpretation of the two colors is spot on. I knew I wanted red this round and was lucky enough to find both colors at a local dealer, parked side by side even. I liked the rapid over the race red, but that is just my opinion.

My wife has a rapid red 2020 Explorer ST and our vehicles can be parked right next to each other and depending on the angle, look like two different colors.

I know it's probably just the lighting, but in your pictures, to me, yours looks closer to Race Red. I saw a Rapid Red Tremor with the blackout package in person the other day and it looked stunning. Almost went that route but got scared with not seeing it in person and ordered Iconic Silver instead.

Yeah. Lighting on these pictures sucks. Here is one to show the metallic to Shrike9, it is from when I was showing another member where to find numbers. It is flash, not sun, but helps with the metallic level.

I'm borderline tempted to call and change our order tomorrow to the Rapid Red & blackout package instead of the Race Red with Lariat Sport package

Want the Race Red/blackout, but that's not offered

Race red looks more like primary red, without the deep red you get with rapid.
