2019 Ford Raptor
Here’s the situation... I’m usually pretty darn good at negotiating deals for my vehicles. Running into a challenge on the Tremors.

Here in Southern California there seems to be low inventory. I did speak with Ford this AM and they shared some dealerships with trucks in stock, and I called a handful (and emailed, phised many ways).

There seems to be a genuine hesitation about selling below MSRP. Some dealers are trying to play the markup game even.

Once mentioning X Plan that kills the conversation, and I know you don’t typically want to discuss a trade in but when it came up in person at the test drive they immediately offered low trade in value saying “we’d just send it to auction.”

I call BS on that. Without the 2021 Raptor being released and supply issues I know private party i’d do pretty well (2019... 18,500 miles). Now I have a PCO burning a hole in my pocket.

I know I could order one... and once it hits the lot you “pay for scarcity” but waiting 6-8 weeks is a long time considering current events.

Logic says to do a private party sale or let Car Max buy my current truck. But I’d like to put this thing into service by 12/31 for tax purposes.

Any pointers or ideas here? I just want a fair deal done and my dealership can’t get their hands on one without a trade.

Inventory is low, not too sure it’s going to change in the near future.

Any guidance appreciated!

I did have a brief email exchange with a dealer in So Cal but they were pretty hard nosed about the price. I ended up ordering from the factory from a dealer 5 miles from my house and still got a very good deal (several thousand less than the so cal dealer). I did have to wait for somewhere near 7 months to get it, though. You can try Shannon at Ron Dupratt Ford in Dixon if you are willing to drive, I certainly was. I know they have two on the lot but I guess it depends on what trim level you want.

Folsom Lake Ford near Sacramento did the Costco plan without much effort on an ordered truck for me. It was about $4,200 under MSRP. The downside was that it took about 14 weeks to get. Ask for Nazar if you're interested.

Thank you, I’ll check them out.

You’re competing with the dealerships to talk to a guy today that ordered one and the dealership offered him 5000 to walk away from his order when it showed up Ron DuPratt will probably only go 500 off MSRP sad there’s dealerships know these tremors or gold right now

Yep, have been looking into Costco as well. Trying to move on it just for end of year + gives me some time to work on any travel/and logistics. Trying to take my pops on a road trip (he’s 80) and I’d feel better with our trailer behind a Super Duty covering some distance.
Towing less than 8K loaded but want to keep some miles off the Raptor for a sale/trade.

Roger that. Seems to be par for the course.

I’m trying to sell myself on some logic... I’m actually getting pretty decent money on my trade in, but also would be paying a premium for purchasing “now.” So I think maybe it’s all relative...

And unfortunately the poor timing on my part.

I could get a smoking deal on an FX4 at the moment. Regardless this thing would be all done with a Carlis kit when their backlog is filled. But yeah... Even my wife said for this kind of purchase get what I want long term.

1st world problems.

Yea true like you said you’re probably going to get more for your trade in so it will all work out I would definitely get the tremor think you’ll have more resale value just shop around you may have to go out of state to get a good deal but like mentioned I heard Costco was a good deal to

Funny story, I just locked in a deal today and traded my 2019 Raptor for a 2021 F250 Tremor. I typically go through new vehicles annually and this was the first time negotiating with the X Plan from Mustang Club America. The transaction was so quick and smooth that I'll be utilizing this method going forward. The dealership offered me 62k for my Raptor with 14k miles, which is in the +/- $1000 range that other dealers offered.

As for locating Tremors, there are a ton of them in Colorado and Arizona. I located four of them with my specific specs yesterday and began calling the dealers this morning. The first one was spoken for and I purchased the second. If you want an F350, search in states that don't treat them like commercial trucks; Idaho, Utah, Colorado etc. Conversely, if you want an F250, which less people seem to look for due to the reduced sticker payload capacity; search in places like Arizona.

If you're looking for Raptors, I've found that the further East you go the demand for them is lower and they are a lot easier to negotiate.

That said, through all of the Fords I've gone through, I've NEVER been able to successfully negotiate a decent deal in California. I guess people there have a lot of money and dealers know someone will always pay what they're wanting.

Good luck with your search!
Eric

If you're willing to come up to WA, go see the Fleet Manager at Totem Lake Ford. He ordered me a truck with a sweet price and I had a VIN a few days later. Build is scheduled for early February (7 week after order).

I guess it depends on who you talk to. I got mine at Ron Dupratt on a special order for well over $5k off MSRP. This was not a truck that was sitting on the lot.

Just throwing this out there, but if you are going to install a Carli package and can get a great deal on an FX4 why not go that route? Does the Tremor have something you need over the FX4, rock crawl mode etc? Just saying if there isn’t something specific to the tremor you need why not save the money, go FX4 then add carli, rather than remove a good portion of the tremor package anyways.

Hey there! When you say $4,200 MSRP, are you talking final out the door price, or the price you paid before taxes, titles, fees, etc.?

No. The cost of the truck off of MSRP before tab and license.

How much less than MSRP?

My dealership in SE Wisconsin had a beauty on the lot right now
Black Lariat ultra ( black out) loaded 7.3 F350 been there for 6 weeks

When I looked at the difference between the Tremor and an FX4, the final cost was around $400 more for the Tremor spec’d the way I would buy it. When you buy the Lariat Ultimate, Lariat Black and Trailer Tow package, Ford offers a $1710 discount when combined with the Tremor Packag.

Other than the suspension and wheels, you get the extra driving modes, the color matching fender lips, the smaller air dam and the Tremor sticker. I am doing the Carli suspension with 37s and 17x9 wheels, so I will sell the factory parts to bring the $400 difference down even further.

It was an easy decision for me to get the Tremor over the FX4...

Encinitas Ford has a white Tremor on their lot but they can be pricing tough sometimes.
I would call Bobby Williams at Sunrise Ford Fontana, been buying from him for 20 years - solid and honest
You'll get killed on any trade in, just sell privately.

Just saw Encinitas has a 2nd one and put a +$5K market adjustment on it - F them

Makes sense, I just meant if he could get a much better deal on the FX4 vs the Tremor (say thousands off the FX4) maybe it would make more sense to just go FX4 unless the Tremor really just had something he could not live with out
