Anybody have this message come up? Only had the truck about 3 weeks. Yesterday morning it came on twice on the way to work. It was below freezing and frost on the windshield.
On Ford Pass app, it says" The Collision Warning system has detected either a system fault or an obstructed radar sensor."
Then it goes on to suggest to "clean the grille surface in front of the radar sensor or remove the object causing the obstruction. If the message is displayed after the obstruction is removed, wait a short time. If the problem persists, have the system checked by an authorized dealer."

Any idea where this radar sensor is located? There was nothing blocking anything on the front of my truck. Would frost on anything cause this? It hasn't come back on since yesterday morning, but I would like to know what they're talking about. Thank you for any suggestions.

I have been getting the same error, intermittently, in fact I was just going to throw out the question on it. The manual says the sensor is in the grill on driver side, but I can’t find it. The camera by the mirror is supposedly for lane check control.

Dang. I would sure like to know if anybody finds that radar sensor

I got both of those this summer. I took it to the dealer and it was a bad module. It took two to three weeks to get it and about 3 hours of waiting to have it fixed.
9200 miles and months later, no problem at all with it.
I hope this helps!

Thank y'all. I have the front camera, too, so I wasn't sure what controlled it. Maybe it won't have any more problems

Would like to have a message that pre-collision assist is not available. Mine was going off all the time. Car turning right ahead of me or just going off, nobody there. Turned if off in the menu. Still went of in the middle of nowhere. No cars around. Dealer said they could not repeat it. No kidding.

Yeah, I bet that's really frustrating. It always repairs itself right before it get to the dealer.

Pre-collision uses the camera by the rear view mirror. You don’t require adaptive cruise or front grille camera for pre-collision.
Mine went off again this morning, but it was pretty foggy. This seems to align with it using a camera for this function.
First time there was a lot of frost , second time it was foggy. It hasn't acted up at all any other time, so I'll chalk it up to environment/weather unless it starts going crazy when it's clear outside.

I got both the pre-collision and adaptive steering not working message when driving up in a slushy snow storm. When I stop and looked the front bumper was covered in slushy snow about 2" thick, cleaned it off and the errors cleared.

Slushy snow in Phoenix? :giggle:

Even if it was Fairbanks what would snow on the bumper have to do with pre-collision and what would any weather have to do with adaptive steering?

There actually was some snow in Phoenix during that storm....Crazy!...About 2 hours north we get more snow in the mountains than most places in the midwest.

Covers up the sensors...the adaptive cruise control sensor is located on the driverside in the bumper opening.

Ah, you said adaptive steering. Fool me once... ;)

The radar (sensor) is behind the black plastic, on the drivers side in the bumper not the grille.
The adaptive cruise and collision avoidance use both the camera and the sensor as part of the co-pilot 360.

Even though my XLT doesn't have adaptive cruise, do I still have this sensor?

That I am not certain but I don't believe you would have the sensor. From what I read adaptive cruise uses the sensor in the bumper and the camera, but it seems the pre collision assist uses only the camera.

Mine has been going off from day 3 of owning the truck, I have adaptive cruise installed and it usually kicks out within the first couple miles down the highway... Took it to Ford and they said they fixed it by replacing the module (in bumper). It still does it.

I’ll take it back in, but my current work around is just keep the truck on regular cruise control. Still throws a warning, but this way I still have cruise.

I don’t know about the camera, but all the research I did says it’s the radar module (on driver’s side) front bumper, behind the black plastic... Nothing I’ve read from Ford connects this issue with the camera... but I’m no Ford tech!

This can happen if the sensors are dirty or blocked. I've had this happen in heavy snow or heavy rain. This happened on my Tundra for the same reason, and a couple times I had to get out an wipe off the sensors.
