I have 60 Leyland Cypress tress surrounding my backyard which is about 110’x80’. My trees are just under 20’ tall. We had them pruned or cut twice now. Once for 500$ then 750$.
So I dropped 800$ on a 16’ A Frame ladder and bought battery hedger. Thing works awesome.
The ladder is over 100lbs and was a bit tricky to trip it up. My wife helped and we went to town trimming my huge trees or hedges. I needed to take off 3’ off the top but these freakin vines were strangling some trees.
I had a bathing suit and a T Shirt on and didn’t wear gloves. After ripping at these vines I noticed some looked like poison Ivy. Green and red with 4 leaves.
After I realized it might be poison Ivy I made a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water and scrubbed my hands and arms.
I then put gloves on and continued to trim these huge hedges.
Well my balls were itchy a bit before I realized it might be Poison Ivy and definitely repositioned them a few times. I’m worried I’m going to have it everywhere.
I got a really bad case of it last year. I was pussing so badly that I would wrap my arms with gores bandages and it made it so freakin bad.
I have been feeling itchy the last 2 hours around my wrist but haven’t scratched them. I’m going to go to urgent care tomorrow for the steroid pack fir the week that I got last year. I didn’t go to seek help until it was out of control.
You wise country dudes have any suggestions. I keep making the vinegar and cold water concoction and gently rinse it on my arms. I was then washing it right off with cold water and liquid soap. But just now I dried it with a paper towel and letting them just chill. Boy does it stink.
Any advice.
Oh the hedges came out ok. It took a heavy toll on my aching body. I should have had someone trim them for me. But if I don’t really get a bad case of poison Ivy I will consider it a success but if I get it bad again. Shit I don’t know what to think.
Here’s pics of last year’s nightmare.
Thanks in advance for your advice. ????

That's bad, bro. I'm an expert. It looks like it's healing.
Just remember that you become more sensitized so be careful!
That was last year. It’s just itchy now. Last year when I had it bad the day after I messed with vines it started to show. I now have scratches that may start to show puss pimples tomorrow.
????

i have best results from a product called Ivarest, some say Apple cider vinegar works well
Is that Ivarest a scrub. I did not do well with that sandy scrub crap I used last year. It just made it explode.

I hate poison ivy, oak, sumac with a passion. The oils can stay active on tools for a couple years, causing you to get it again! Which is no fun after just recovering from it.

I dont get it...but looking at that you should go to the doc and get the steriod shot.
Thanks my man. I should not have posted pics of last years Poison Ivy. That isn’t a current pic. My brother from another mother is immune to it also. You are a lucky dog that you never get it.
I was suffering from that shit gor about 4 weeks last year. It was all of July. I was just oozing out that puss.
I pray someone gives me some wisdom on an old country boy trick that it won’t get that bad again. The Dr last year said it was really bad and now expect to be able to catch it easier now. I thought once you got it bad you’d have a as bit of a tolerance from it.
Sorry to have posted last years pic.
??????????

If you got that bad once if you get into it again it will be worse go get the shot immediately...it clear up in half the time.
Buddy I hunt with gets it if he looks at it..he get quarter size spot and the next morning it 4x as big, he has left hunt camp for a shot couple of times.

Wow that’s brutal… you must be fairly allergic to it. Like someone else said your reactions will become worse over time.
I have 280 acres of the stuff. Fortunately I can virtually scrub my body with the stuff and end up with a small bump that goes away in 2 days.
Wife and kids on the other hand it’s off to the emergency care for a steroid shot along with the follow up pills.
My wife last encounter cost me over 2k!
She did not get into she knows better however the big dog she was loving on gifted her?

I can’t offer any help now that you’ve got it other than calamine and patience. This is why I keep TecNu on hand during deer season. I scrub my arms, neck and face at the truck after I change my hunting clothes. My brother is extremely allergic and this helps him avoid it most times as well. On a side note, you can also use it on your animals if they get sprayed by a skunk.

Ironman shower with this stuff for about a week it will dry up and go away I’ve had poison oak all over it works great use bleach and water on all the tools you use to touch that stuff and wash all your clothes get the oil out

When I was a kid my mom and dad were clearing a fenceline that was covered in poison ivy. They wore gloves and long sleave shirts to protect themselves. When they were all done, we lit on fire, the pile of vines and such that were pulled out. They both spent the evening in the hospital from exposure to the smoke.

Don't ever burn poison ivy.
