First world problems, but I saw a F-450 platinum that had the tailgate appliqué painted to match the body color of the truck, and it looked pretty dang awesome. My wife thinks leaving it chrome is nice. I’m torn. Curious what you guys think. Keep it, or paint it?

(I know a company that can paint it for $325, just for cost reference)

I grew up in the era of chrome, had Cragar S/S’s, chrome bumpers, tailpipes and other assorted chrome pieces parts & am actually looking foreword to getting away from the currently very popular all blacked out/chrome removed look once my platinum finally gets here

Hummmm, wonder how a F250 Tremor would look with Cragar S/S’s ;)

I get the chrome look, most of the trucks I liked as a kid looked that way. I definitely prefer less rather than more chrome for modern trucks though.
Yes. I am removing some of the chrome, but some of it I like to keep. But the tailgate has me torn right now.

In 1967 Ford began trimming their premium trucks with a polished tailgate panel. It's been that way ever since. It's your call, color keyed looks good with polished letters. I added Caribou lettering to my King Ranch. Just keeping with the theme.

I'm having mine painted black on my platinum but where it says super duty and platinum I'm leaving the brushed aluminum look. I also agree that if you leave the whole panel the aluminum look that the lettering painted black or body color it looks really good.

Ha that sounds like me & my wife!
She likes the chrome, I can’t stand it.

I’m having mine painted body color currently.

The brushed look is subdued with the Iconic Silver paint. Sure, it will kind of stand out on black, blue or red, but not to the point of spending a lot on money to change it.

I think the brushed look is classy but you could put Xpel Stealth matte PPF over it for a more subtle look. Of course against Iconic Silver it hardly stands out anyway.

Like you live in a trailer park and sport a mullet!

Is that the natural look? I ordered a carbonized gray platinum tremor, sight unseen thanks to the current conditions
I did the same thing, the more pics I see that tailgate appliqué needs to go like as soon as the truck shows up lol just not sure which way to go matte black or carbonized gray either way I’d leave the lettering the brushed
