That is something to definitely think about. I don’t plan on loading the bed up very often but I can see that being an issue in the future. The paragon does seem like you wouldn’t be able to stack things up over a foot in the bedMake sure you really want a Paragon. Personally I would find it infuriating to be unable to open or close the cover if I have stuff right at the front of the bed. Also means you can't fully load the bed but there's no hard stop preventing you from loading it too much and keeping you from closing the cover.
Not speaking from experience, but research.
The scenario I think about is cargo sliding forward, as well. Unless you have your cargo secured from sliding, if it moves forward in transit I believe you would be stuck crawling under the cover to retrieve it, since none of the panels could drop down. That is something to definitely think about. Any paragon owners out there?
Yup, not a great bed cover design to be frank. The scenario I think about is cargo sliding forward, as well. Unless you have your cargo secured from sliding, if it moves forward in transit I believe you would be stuck crawling under the cover to retrieve it, since none of the panels could drop down.
And with the bed completely enclosed, I certainly find myself less inclined to fully secure cargo unless it's particularly heavy.
Keeping the bed dry worries me, along with everything else you said. Would water leak into the bed?I had a peragon cover on my previous truck. Definitely got stuck a few times where things would slide towards the cab which could have been caused by the drop in bed liner. On a few occasions items would get wedged in and I would have to completely unload my truck.
There are also operational quirks, I carried a towel to use when opening the cover as the black paint would be entirely too hot to touch in the summer.
The strap used to close the cover would sometimes end up getting tangled in my gear.
I also did not trust it to keep the bed dry.
I figured this was all normal until I got the Retrax on my tremor. It is better is everyway except for cost. The peragon cover cost considerably less.
Both are made in America which is a plus.
Yes, it would definitely leak from inbetween the panels while closed. Also if there is any water on top it will drip down the panels and into the bed when opened.Keeping the bed dry worries me, along with everything else you said. Would water leak into the bed?
Ok I am questioning paragon now. I do like how easy it is to remove but it has a lot of issues. I don’t want a reel but I do like the OEM Ford installs. I might look into those.Yes, it would definitely leak from inbetween the panels while closed. Also if there is any water on top it will drip down the panels and into the bed when opened.
I had it installed for 3 years and it was parked outside in the Florida sun. I am trying to recall if it gradually got worse but it seems that it was always a concern throughout my ownership.

Thanks for your input, I might not be getting paragon nowThe peragon was rather simple to remove but if not removed it takes up around the same amount of space as the Retrax.
not bad at all. Yeah they seem pretty solid but the way it folds will definitely cause some issues. I can see myself crawling in the bed fighting with something, while water drips through onto my clean clothes.I think I paid $799 shipped for mine so price wise it is great. There are positives go the peragon, Made in America, Aluminum, easily removed, secure, great customer service.
Been there! I typically sent my kids into the bed to either free what ever was blocking it from opening or to fetch the strap to pull it closed. But I definitely have been in the exact situation of crawling in myself and coming out wet and sandy.not bad at all.
