Ordered Winch - Self Install Advice?

Ordered my winch. Should have it in about a week.
Ford wants 700 to install, so I figured I'd install myself.
Has anyone installed their own winch yet? Advice?
yes there is a few and also @Fordseniormaster did a break out on one of the thread will try to find it and also here is the install instructions

here is the thread

It’s my understanding that installation at the is included in the MSRP of the option, and the work is billed to Ford.

I have no proof that’s the case, but it seems reasonable.

yes if you order the winch with the truck but if you buy the winch after the fact which is now available you will have to pay install fee which i think is pull shit at $3k for the winch

$700, and I'll bet you paid the full $3K for it. If you ordered the truck/winch with Costco's help you would be paying invoice for the winch and Ford would pay the dealership to install it. Even with a late August order date the dealership could not find it to order it so I'll likely do the same. Just venting.
Watch the videos above and keep an eye out for the bolts that can cut into the rope. Perhaps replace those with shorter bolts.

Any link to the Costco program you're referencing?

Also...what's the PN? Just want to confirm...is it M-1821-SD

You just choose the winch when you pick options.

In December my dealership was offering 10% off on any parts or accessories, so I told them to get me the winch. They still could not find it. Now that I have the performance parts #. I'm going to bug them for the discount.

These are the 2 bolts that will get into the rope. Just replace and invert them with carriage bolts.

You could probably use your Ford pass points which would cover part of the install

i been told you can't use your ford pass point on things on ford performance parts

My wife asked Ford about six months ago and they said you could use the points but I’ll double check
2 dealership told me this when I was trying to order the recovery board .. and when I called ford parts they told me the same

I love to do my own work but if you need the adaptive cruise recalibrated it can be done so.

I think the $700.00 is worth every penny. There a many parts to R& R and some are heavy and you could scratch them.

I may get something going with my dealership soon.

I can buy it though my salesman and maybe he can get me a loaner so I could drop it off for a day or so.

I will however look it over with a fine tooth comb to make sure no problems with the rope and interference
