I tried to place an order last week and on Friday I got this email from my dealer:

Hi, as of right now the system is not allowing us to order a Tremor package. Our understanding is the components are not available at this time.

I will keep you updated as I get new information. My apologies

Thank you

Anyone else hear this, or should I find a different dealer?

Haven’t heard this yet but possible as it seems to be true that Tremors not yet scheduled are on hold for now.

I would try another dealer though. Been looking to order a tractor all year and my local dealers keep suggesting they’re not placing orders, while others are seemingly getting orders in and delivered. Sure the same nonsense is happening here in Ford world. Nobody wants to work.

I just ordered mine Friday, 2022 F250 PSD Platinum Tremor. never heard anything about this, yet anyway. all he was able to tell me was that it’d likely be New Years before I got it.

I ordered mine on Thursday. Haven't heard about any issues like that but now you have me worried ha. I'll feel better once i get a Vin i guess

I was going to order a 7.3 Carbonized Grey 2022 however my dealership told me 24 weeks min and the prices will go up due to cost of steel. They can get one but it will be a very long wait. So better have something to drive until next year. Glad I got my 6.7 Velocity Blue 2020.

You guys realize 24 weeks puts us at the end of this year right?? We are a long ways from thinking they need to be 23's
They ought to just call em '23s Trek bikes are behind as well. they have different color combos every year. they are going to make the same bikes for next 2-3 years due to the back log. No changes on future models. They are out about the same time frame as Ford for the bicycles. When the new bikes get delivered later this year they are 2023 models and the 2023 models will be built exactly the same thru 2023maybe past.

It's probably a little tougher with vehicles because model year has such a massive effect on future resale and residual. (And like ~30% of all vehicles are leased with the manufacturer holding that risk.)

Bikes aren't as affected as much by model year. And the manufacturers aren't directly affected by residual value.

I purchased my last Chevy in March of 2014 it was a 2015 model year. So it has been done before.

Some of the Trek bikes are upwards of 18K so it can matter just not at the same level as Ford ( I think Ford may be a bit larger).

The Chevy thing worked out for me as I got an entire extra year of use on the truck.

Yeah, Ford has ~100x more employees than Trek.

The level of bureaucracy in that company has to be stifling.

Relatedly, I was watching this video on farm/construction equipment shortages last night:

One interesting insight, that I've heard many times now throughout this crisis, is that smaller manufacturers are doing a better job of overcoming supply chain issues than larger manufacturers. Bureaucracy seems to be the best explanation for that.

Buying a Trek is frustrating. Took 9 months to get my rosco 7.

Other likely contributing factor is that smaller manufacturers inherently have more options since they require such a smaller amount of supply. When Ford needs a part, they need a lot of it so they’re limited in how many suppliers can meet that demand.

Yes, they can work with multiple suppliers for the same part, but then that introduces risk, QA challenges and inconsistencies. So I have to imagine they don’t want to over-index on that.

(Ditto for products other than vehicles, of course.)

Ok, update, dealer sent a note today saying they can order it, that they just had to add the package manually, whatever that means. Anyway, waiting on a quote with all the correct options.

As for backlog, I ordered an enclosed trailer from continental cargo (forest river) last sept and didn't pick it up till May because of the wildfires in Oregon, covid, and supply shortages. It seems crazy, that every industry is short, but I guess its the risk JIT manufacturing runs. I suspect '23s will be late next year since they have to clear the '21 backlog and then the ordered '22s. I wonder if they just shorten the run of '22s though instead.

Ok, ordered. Got the email from Ford immediately. Priority 19 at the moment. X plan price out of mission valley truck center in San Jose CA.
I did not get an email from Ford... Guess i better contact my dealer tomorrow and make sure it got put through completely. Unless ordering under a fleet deal changes that idk. This is the first vehicle i have ordered, just bought off the lot before
