Hey guys,

New here, been shopping the 17-19 SuperDuties, but it almost seems like it makes more sense for the newer ones.

Locally there's a 21 XLT Tremor w/7.3 - anything i should be aware of? or is diesel the way to go ( as dumb as it sounds but part of me wonders how quickly a gas XLT will depreciate )

Love mine. Only question is 21 or 22.

Really just the console LOL - I mean, I live in GA - heated/cooled seats are nice but not required - and I don't intend on doing any heavy towing.

However mid 50s vs 70s is a tough pill to swallow for heated/cooled seats

Welcome to the forum @stormhammer - The 7.3l is a beast. The main reasons I went with the diesel is for the extra power and range when towing.

Yea exactly, couldn't justify the cost difference they add up quickly ..

I have a 20 XLT 7.3 and came from a 17 XLT 6.7 minus a Power Wagon in between lol
I love my 7.3 and like others said it will do everything you need and then some. If you pull heavy and/or often then I diesel might be a better choice but for me gas was financially smarter being I only pull a 16’ with my Polaris Ranger Crew. If I had never owned diesels before then I’d never know what I was missing by having that instant turbo power however I’m satisfied overall and would probably buy the gas again if put in the position but I’d probably do a lariat.

It really comes down to what you are going to use the truck for, and how many bells and whistles you want. The 7.3 is a stud and great for most. I know Im not going to do any consistent heavy towing/ hauling, which plays to the diesel strength, so 7.3 is where I landed, and no issues. Its hard to go wrong, if the ’21 XLT 7.3 has the features you want, go for it! Good luck!

If you don't NEED a Diesel, don't get one. Don't get me wrong, Diesels are great, the 6.7 is amazing, if you need it. But Diesels need to be worked. Their emissions are complicated and expensive. Fuel contamination seems to be the most common complaint when talking about failures. It's not uncommon for Diesel Mechanics at the dealerships to be booked weeks in advance. Don't get caught up in the Diesel vs Gas Value at trade-in. The 7.3 is proving to be a strong contender in the Truck market. Do yourself a favor and drive a Tremor with the 7.3. Its simplicity makes it a winner.

I have a 2020 Tremor 7.3 XLT Premium Package, and honestly it has way more bells & whistles than I ever expected. I think that’s the only way you can get a Tremor if I’m not mistaken. But, it has heated seats, BLISS, Lane Kees assist, Power Door Locks & Windows, Sync 3 w/ 8” screen, Built In NAV, Built-In Remote Start using the Ford App, Reverse Camera & Sensors, Camera for the Bed, Fog Lights, Center Console, Power Seats. I’m sure I’m missing a few other doo-dads, but it still came in at the Mid-50’s.
And I have owned a previous F250 with a Powerstroke Diesel, and I don’t miss it at all! This truck has so much grunt, and it’s lighter, that it’s so much fun to drive!
I would buy another one with the 7.3 without hesitation! Now, I don’t tow very often, but even if I did my work truck is an F350 Dually with a 5.4L Gas motor and it has done so surprisingly well that I know this 7.3L can handle anything that I may need to throw at it with ease.

I test drove a 2021 FX4 with 6.2l gas. It was bare bones, rubber floors, fold up middle seat, tiny radio screen. I hated it...

Then I found a 2021 Tremor XLT 7.3l with nice center console, entertainment screen, productivity screen behind the steering wheel.

I love it. I had previously owned a 2007 Silverado 3500 dually diesel and a 2018 Nissan Titan gas burner.

I love my Tremor 7.3! It's amazing. I don't think I'll ever go back to diesel... It's just not worth the added cost of diesel upkeep, as far as I'm concerned.

My Tremor XLT has keyless entry, remote start, rear camera, etc and only cost $54k.

There is no way I could justify $85k for the same truck plus leather, heated seats, sun roof etc... I could buy so many toys with the $30k I saved... ATVs, guns, gold, silver, etc...

I curently own a 21 xlt tremmor coming out of a 19 ccsb lariat the only thing i miss is the leather with the cloth seats i have to make sure i have nothing on my pants that might stain the cloth , being a diesel mech lol its hard to keep clean some times their is a option its called katzkin seat very reasonable change the cloth to leather add heat and cool to the seats as well cost is not bad at all very reasonable . depending on options range is 1500- 1900 installed

Another option is either Wet Okole seat covers. They are made of Neoprene so they are waterproof. But the factory cloth seats I’ve not had any issues so far, I think they have Scotchguard because I have gotten them wet and the water just seems to bead up on them so that’s a plus.
I just got some cheap Carhartt seat covers from Amazon for the front Buckets since I’m a field tech and I always have tools & junk in my back pockets too.

So I was going to go by this afternoon to trade in and hurray, it sold already.

Time to hunt again.
Just order and get what you want. I ordered and the only thing I would have done different is that I would have done the carpet delete and I would have gotten the winch. I have a Lariat 7.3. LOVE it!

Diesel for max towing capability versus Godzilla for minimum cost. I bought the 6.7l power stroke for max towing at altitude. The rest is what you want versus need, and can justifiably afford. The Lariat gives a lot of bang for the buck especially with the Ultimate package. Good luck ?

I've heard finding a Tremor 7.3 on the lot is rare, they go quickly in many markets. Look under the hood of a 7.3 and a 6.7 and you will see the difference. Big block with tons of room under the hood compared to buried in emissions on the diesel. You can probably order an XLT the way you want it for under $60K. Check out this build I just did on line. XPlan would put this in the mid 50s. https://shop.ford.com/build/superdu...5.53W.76S.592.66S.YZKAA.17Y.17P.SRW.250.CBB.]

I test drove both engines in lariat trims. The 7.3 felt like all the other big block trucks I've owned or driven(v10s, 460s,454s, 8.1s) it could barely get out of its own way. The diesel was much more responsive on the highway. I dont tow much but every other weekend I have a commute that has 6 to 9% grades and 7000ft elevation and with a few thousand pounds in the bed. If the 7.3 was falling on its face empty on a flat highway, id hate to see it loaded in the mountains
