That’s super interesting. I am curious what the actual implementation will look like.

Since it’s supposed to be passive, that means it will likely catch tired drivers as well, since they behave similarly to, or worse than, drunk drivers. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

But there’s a also big risk of false positives, which would really suck depending on the exact behavior.

Our trucks already tell you when you are driving like crap with the take a rest coffee mug screen. Imagine if it forced you to stop the truck after an event like that whether its true of false. In some ways its a good idea but will definitely have some issues I bet.

Nothing like big brother making laws that will have your car spying on you, watching your every move, making sure you do not speed, drive tires, drive after having a glass of wine at dinner

It just keeps getting worse and worse

More nanny state BS forced on us by the asshat in charge and his handlers.
It will get throw out in court just like the rest of his BS.
Let's Go Brandon!

How will this crap get thrown out in court?

Look at all the people who allow insurance companies to put trackers on your phone or in your vehicle to get better rates

Soon you will have a car that does not allow you to speed, go off road, run a red light/stop sign & will record all your violations so they can be reviewed and actions taken against you

I'm all for keeping asshats that drink and drive off the road. Now make one for marijuana too.

The key is actually holding those accountable for their actions... but the system is designed to rotate them in and right back out. Instead it's easier to control the masses rather than trigger some delicate daisy by telling them they F'd up and are facing consequences in hopes they cease the behavior.

Big difference between consent and being forced....already pulled my the fuse on my truck.

What fuses?

If your vehicle is equipped with the drunk driver interlock that forces you to blow prior to starting & you pull its fuses or otherwise disable it, your vehicle will not start

You really think pulling fuses will defeat a government mandated “safety device” put in for your own safety and the safety of others

I think you guys are being a bit reactionary here. I am fairly certain that we all have had friends or family members killed or injured by drunk drivers. >10k people dead each year not to mention life altering injuries. I've had to cut enough dead innocent people out of vehicles as well as telling people in the hospital setting that it's time to take their loved ones off life support. I don't know, perhaps I am biased (I am!), I chose several careers that put me in the middle of it. Lets see how this plays out......

The fuse that powes the tracker that keeps up everywhere you drive...they can keep their pass points...

What if I am on private ground and not on the road. Think big ranches and farms..I still can't start my truck if I have had few beers? Smh

You own a cell phone, social media account, or a credit card? Big brother can already do all those things. Stop being dramatic.

We've been data mined for years, nothing new to see here.

So 95000 people die each year due to Alcohol abuse (CDC Numbers) yet we do nothing about that and other causes of deaths in US

  • Heart disease: 659,041
  • Cancer: 599,601
  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 173,040
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 156,979
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 150,005
  • Alzheimer’s disease: 121,499
  • Diabetes: 87,647
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 51,565
  • Influenza and pneumonia: 49,783
  • Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,511
And yet we think its a good idea to spend what will be billions on making sure we stick new technology in all new cars to make sure you didn't drink? Now your new truck will cost a few grand more for this technology and the only way it works is if you have to verify you aren't drunk or been drinking every time you start your vehicle. As well and as said everyone has to buy a new car for this to hold any water at all. Total BS well done Brandon what and idiot.

Don’t forget obesity, next up the government telling you what you will eat, when you will eat and that you will enjoy it and you have zero say in what goes into your mouth
