Hi all,

New here but over from FRF. I have a 2018 Raptor that I am contemplating trading in for a Tremor. I honestly don't know why lol. I have been seeing some amazing tremors with full Carli gear so I figured that might rival my truck in comfort but give me a bit more space and cargo capacity. I will continue to do my research and decide where I should go from here.

Picture attached of my truck for reference.

You’ll enjoy it. Sold my 21 and my R, I’m happy to be back in a diesel.

Welcome to the forum New Jerseyan! You better be a Yankee fan, ok?

You'll love the Tremor. If I were you I'd find a '22 since it's the best looking model. Test drive one if you haven't already. As soon as I test drove my '22, I felt '25 again (you'll know what I mean 🤪).

If you have any questions, just ask me. I know everything. All I do is DM other members and I'll get the answer for you 😜.

Welcome!

I went from a 2018 Raptor (second Raptor) to a 24 Tremor 6.7. Three things I miss the most. #1 the Raptor fit in the garage and the Tremor doesn't. #2 nothing beats the Raptor's ride. The Tremor isn't bad, especially being a heavy duty truck, but it's no Raptor. #3 the turning radius. I love the 6.7L HO. It's my first diesel. The DEF is kind of a pain but not something you need to deal with a lot unless you are towing heavy. Not towing I am seeing about 600 miles per gallon of DEF fluid.

Welcome you will love the room in the super duty, the ride stock well not so much but Carli can help.

There's a lot of reasons that I love my F250 vs. the F150 I came out of... but just want to appropriately set expectations for you, I've cycled through a few different Carli setups and if the Raptor is going to be your benchmark for on-road ride and offroad performance, you are going to end up being pretty disappointed I think.

I've posted this in a few different suspension threads recently, but I am currently sitting on a Back Country system (with all the Carli hard parts, torsion swaybar, full replacement leaf springs, shackles, radius arms etc.) and while it's definitely the most refined/compliant on road ride and miles better than stock, it's still nowhere near the ride of even a regular F150/half ton, much less a Raptor. Offroad the Pintop (what I used to have on the truck) or the E Venture will probably be on par with a bone stock Raptor but the Back Country would fall pretty short there. So if you're actually wanting to get as close as possible to your Raptor, be prepared to write a big check.

Maybe go and test drive something like a Ram Power Wagon, not to buy one, but more because that's probably the closest comparable to what you'll get as far as on road ride with a Carli system on your Tremor. If you are happy enough with that, then for sure go all in on a Carli build of a Tremor, you'll definitely love the bigger bed space and heavier duty drivetrain on the Super Duty.

Welcome to the forum!

Lots of previous raptor owners on here. I dig your build, and that sweet Escapod youre towing... One of my favorite trailers.

You cant beat the comfort of the Raptor (or the nice size) as @Silver-Bolt mentions. If you do choose to go with Carli ( ... @Silver-Bolt ;) ) you can really help to free up that front end with their progressive coil and torsion sway bar. Out back, the progressive rear leaf does wonders to get the dumptruck/bucking bronco discomfort away.

We are dealers for Leitner (which I see you are rocking), Baja Carli, and a few dozen other brands.. If you decide to make the switch make sure to reach out.

Welcome you will love the room in the super duty, the ride stock well not so much but Carli can help.
The interior size is the same as the Raptor. They use the same cab.

I went from a raptor to a tremor.

There is no reason to unless you tow a lot. The raptor looks better, rides better, is faster, etc.

@davfoto I should add:

Youre totally welcome to ring me. I have spent a lot of time in Raptors (loaded and unloaded) as well as virtually every other type of "overland" applicable vehicle. We can flush out what your needs are (or what you want to do now vs in the future) and work back from there. I helped my uncle just get into a 2024 tremor. Previous to that, he had a 2022 F150 lariat and a 2014 Raptor. While he loved both of those trucks (his son now has the raptor) he knew he wanted a bit more capability with his "retirement" property he just got in WA state. He now has toys, a small tractor, and wanted to try the overland thing out via a Four Wheel Camper (which has just been ordered) , so the f150 had to go...

It really comes down to needs. If you love towing that Escapod and dont see you wanting more, you cant beat how a Raptor eats miles. But if you forsee yourself going away from a trailer and going with an in-bed camper (or you may want to start towing) F350 tremor all day long. Its important to point out also that with the Tremor's, the F250/F350 have the same rear springs, so you wont gain any ride comfort by going with the F250. My professional opinion is to always go with the F350 as they have a higher resale and a much larger payload and tow rating, all at only $800-1000k more than the F250 variant.

Anyways, feel free to ring if you want to talk shop. I know some great vendors on the east coast too for modifications if needed.

I have had three Tremors (two '22 King Ranches, one 7.3 and one 6.7) and my current '23 KR.

I also had a 2019 Raptor in the past and if I didn't have a gooseneck dump trailer and a heavy boat, I would go back to a Raptor in a heartbeat. Faster, more nimble, significantly better ride, lower cost of ownership, lower depreciation, easier to park, cheaper tires, etc.

But, as the saying goes, gotta pay to play.

A lot to digest here for sure. It’s been a long day of work and bullshit so I’ll take some time to read it all. Thank you all for the welcomes and I’ll get back with my thoughts and where I go from here.

Of course he would say get a. '22 :ROFLMAO:

Get a Tremor that’s black and warp it to your liking.

The Polaris and Harley are stock colors. Got it as close as we could.
@Optimus loves the random colors. Especially when they are not only the 22 year model.

My first and only warning. It doesn't apply to all who venture into these woods, but it's what I've learned here.

BTW...the water's fine...just jump in!! 😜😜:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

This is very true. I've been in many models from different years 🤪.

I think upgrading yourself to be a Super Duty guy is the best thing you can do. Very different kind of people - and only in a good way. I don't think I could ever go back to hang with the F150 crowd

I never owned a Raptor, so I cannot compare and my F150 up to that point was the best vehicle I ever had, but man - when I got behind that steering wheel of my Super Duty Tremor in August 2022 and then joined this forum - there is just no way going back.

Being that I have owned all Raptor platforms over the years, 9 in total - (5) Gen1’s; (1) Gen 2; (1) Gen 3 37 package a MY23 Raptor R, and now a MY24 Raptor R along with also owning a handful of SD’s over the years I thought to comment on this thread.

Raptors since conception have obviously progressed overtime, some good progressions and some topics that can obviously be argued/debated. Nonetheless if you’re a true Raptor enthusiast or SD enthusiast you can appreciate all of the generations for what they are and know that we all will have our personal favorites and hopefully respect others for theirs.

For Raptors, I personally have driven and owned every Raptor that has been made from a 2010 5.4, to the R and everything in between with the exception of a Gen3 35 package. I’ve done extensive builds on (3) different Gen 1’s, from just doing upper control arms and 3.0 swaps to a fully caged linked Gen 1 with over 700HP. And my soon to be upgraded MY24 Raptor R that will be delivering 975HP when the new SC gets installed. My point being is I can appreciate them all for what they are, and I enjoyed all of them, some obviously more than others.

The same goes for SD’s. I’ve had multiple SD’s over the years, some I’ve left stock and others like my current MY22 F-250 SCAB that I have thrown the entire Carli eVenture catalog at and then some for suspension as well as deleted and basically rebuilt the engine with all SPE and Banks parts. My plan for this SD was to get it as close to a Raptor as possible but also have the versatility to tow which is ultimately what SD’s are made for, which I believe I achieved with this build.

With that being said, even though I’ve literally thrown the entire Carli catalog at this SD build, and it rides and operates smoother than any other SD I’ve ever been in or driven, the ride quality and responsiveness doesn’t even come close to my 24MY Raptor R. They’re just two completely different trucks that are designed for two completely different purposes.

My point being is that as much as one would love to have a “Swiss Army knife truck” a one truck that does everything the best truck, it simply doesn’t exist. Can you have a truck that can do both ya, the F-250 with a Carli eVenture, but is that F-250 with a Carli eVenture or Carli Pintop or Dominator going to ride Offroad like a Raptor R is going to, not even close! And conversely is the Raptor R going to hold up Offroad to a fully caged 4-linked PreRunner, absolutely not!

For myself, I’m fortunate enough to be in a position to own both, along with a MY22 Ford Lightning Pro as my daily, which works best for me as a daily driver around the city to my jobsites. When I want to go on long weekend trips or tow something, I take my F-250, for that truck kills it towing or on long trips up grades. And of course for my weekend truck or truck that I typically take out with friends to the desert, I drive my Raptor R now that I sold the PreRunner.

However, with all of that being said, if I was in the position to only be able to own one, and I still wanted to tow something, but also wanted a very capable truck that could overland or Offroad, I would without a doubt choose my F-250 SCAB with the Carli eVenture. I will say the F-250 SCAB short bed’s turning radius is better than the Raptor SCREW or F-250 SCREW. But understand that most will be need the space of a SCREW for their families, it’s only me and my lady on the long trips, so the SCAB is perfect for us.

That’s just my two cents, take it for what it is. Hopefully we all can see the silver lining in it all and remember that we are all here on this platform because of one thing, our mutual love and passion for trucks and the community it brings.

Here’s a shot of my current truck lineup and a link to the YouTube video that CJC Off-road did on my recent 22 super duty that I mentioned above:

Hey man, a few of us are over here. I sold my Gen 2 with bypass Kings for a peasant F250. Carli is on order. The superduty will not be as plush or nimble. But I am hoping that I can do 80% of what the Raptor did.
