New Assembly Strategy?

So....
Opened up my hood just now and noticed something odd. Surely Ford isn't using elastic bands to keep things together now?!?!?

Mine also had that, my dad noticed it and was sure to make a comment about a $70,000 truck being held together with rubber bands. lol.

curiosity wants to know why it is put there in the first place...

Apparently Ford uses rubber bands extensively to aid assembly on the line. There are threads on other forums about people finding innumerable rubber bands dangling from bits and pieces of their trucks, and reports of them burning or becoming entangled in moving parts.

I guess this is the trade-off of assembling 100 trucks per hour in the USA. ?
